You know, we haven't had a President with facial hair since Taft in 1916. I say screw all these clean-shaven pussies and let's get Richardson's beard back in the race. That's change I can really believe in...

/is Hillary's clean shaven?

daum 2008-04-26 08:24:20 PM
...my Vice President would be Mexican for a little insurance. You wanna kill me? Fine, but you're just gonna open the border.

Dave Chappelle is the funneh.

Richardson traveled to Venezuela on a request of the relatives of Marc Gonsalves

Thanks, that was funny

i have to say that an obama/richardson ticket would get my vote. And I am not even a citizen!

DPXFP2 2008-04-26 08:31:03 PM
Hold on.

When did he grow a beard, and since when do Venezuelan guerillas have our citizens hostage.

Furthermore, why does Venezuela even HAVE leftist guerillas? I mean, doesn't the government take care of the whole "leftist" thing?

heyzeus94: he should of been the front runner if it wasnt for these damn attention whore democrats

Yep, he's probably one of the most qualified Democrats there is. I'd probably rank him number two, after Al Gore.

For some reason I feel the need to make clear that I wasn't kidding with the Gore comment. Not sure why.

Richardson would make a hell of a president in this election were it not for Obama. That being said i'd like to see him get the Veep nod and run for the big job after Obama gets his turn (or two?)

cryinoutloud [TotalFark] 2008-04-26 08:35:30 PM
Richardson, who in January dropped his bid to be the Democratic party's 2008 presidential nominee, was United Nations ambassador 1997-1998 under president Bill Clinton. He helped negotiate the release of Americans in Iraq and North Korea in 1996, and of a US journalist in Sudan in 2006.

He also just went to somewhere in Africa to negotiate the release of three people who'd been captive there for months. They were trying to film a documentary.

I wish I remember the details of it. I can't find the story, and it was big news around here.

worlddan 2008-04-26 08:43:22 PM
It is always interesting to me to hear people praise Richardson who don't know anything about him and have never interacted with him. The Santa Fe new Mexican recently did a poll on his approval in the state and 65% of the population said he was doing a "poor" job as governor.

As someone who can truthfully say that they have had the unfortunate experience of being represented by Richardson for over 30 years, since his very first Congressional victory as a New York carpertbagger...he sucks.

onomatopoetic 2008-04-26 08:44:40 PM
DPXFP2: Furthermore, why does Venezuela even HAVE leftist guerillas?

The guerrillas are in Colombia. Venezuela is involved presumably because they share a political ideology with the guerrillas and thus have some pull with them.

Churchill2004 [TotalFark] 2008-04-26 08:44:46 PM
I would much prefer the more centrist/conservative "Western Democrats" like Bill Richardson and the current Governor of Montana (the one that's throwing the fit over Heller vs. DC, on the side of the 2nd Amendment, and is also refusing to comply with REAL ID) over the traditional East Coast liberal Democrats like Obama and Hillary.

hmmm
Clearly he is so fantastic, that he sees his govornership as a useful tool to get hostages freed.

I guess that you would have had to be in the desert or korea when the folks were released
to realize how ridiculous this guy is

worked for clinton
worked for the U.N.
Yup, that's enough fer me see him as a P.O.S.
I'll put him up with another famed jackass of worthless endeavors

Gary Johnson, the anti-Drug War libertarianish Republican Richardson replaced, was much, much better. But I'd still take Richardson, who's relatively fiscally conservative, pro-gun, civil libertarian, and reformist on drug prohibition, over Hillary
and Obama who for the most part are none of those things.

Churchill2004:

My problem with Richardson is not his politics; it's his ethics. Everyone knows Hillary's ethics because she has been in the spotlight so long. People don't know Richardson and so they implant a good-guy image on him. Richardson makes Darth Vader look like Luke Skywalker, he's that bad. A lying, stinking, amoral, backstabbing, cheating, amoral SOB.

I may be a Dem but I am also a character counts kind of guy.

I don't know if this (new window)site is accurate but it says he has has a 58%/39% approval dissaproval rating.

Well, I can't really say anything about that. I'd honestly rather have a smart politician with good positions and questionable ethics, and a politician with bad positions and impeccable ethics, provided that the one with questionable ethics does, in fact, stick to his positions.

... he will attempt to stop the Hillary votes from defecting to McCain

It's frikkin ridiculous that he is in Venezuela giving credibility to that nutjob! The word on the street here in Colombia is that those three are CIA - who knows if it's true...

They are also the only true foreign nationals in FARC custody (Ingrid is dual citizenship). The FARC are not giving them up!

DanUFfan 2008-04-26 10:43:46 PM
Careful, subby. Don't get ahead of yourself. Besides, I don't think McCain will choose Richardson as a running mate.

Zuel 2008-04-26 10:59:11 PM
Richardson got played. Obama obviously told him he's on the "short list" so the farker turns his back on the Clintons that gave him not 1 but 2 cabinet jobs and walked him into the Gov's mansion.

It shows Richardson's character and why he's not suitable for high office.

Would you abandon people that helped you so much?

This. Former (still switching over plates/license) New Mexican. He always has his eye on the next step, rather then the good of the state. His attitude/actions during the Wen Ho Lee fiasco were reprehensible.

/not to mention the multiple rumors I've heard about the type of guy he is.
//They are still just rumors though.
