Where i'm from you need a 2.7 gpa in order to get your teaching certifate/bachelors in education. However, you only need 90 or so college credits with no minimum gpa required in order to sub. So you could have a 2.0 and fail every math class you've ever taken yet sub for a calculus class. The system sucks... i guess administrators either don't care or are really hurting for people.

As a substitute teacher I can tell you from experience that every single place I've been hired (that accounts for three school districts and a community center after school program) has required me to submit to a CORI background check. Unless this lady has been on the sub list since before the incidents occurred I'm inclined to call shenanigans on any school system that employed her in the first place. I think that while they're busy investigating her they ought to investigate how she slipped through the cracks in the first place.

I am interning in a school district and had to go through fingerprinting/CPS checks before I could be in the schools at all. I don't think it's a matter of slipping through cracks, sounds like there's big craters in their hiring system.

Is the dumbass tag for the police who arrested this woman in front of a class of children? What is it with the po-po waiting for someone for 5 years on a warrant, but then not being able to wait half an hour until the suspect isnt surrounded by 30 children before making an arrest?
