Some farktard kid around here has been shattering car windows with a BB gun while riding a skateboard. Some friends of mine saw him and gave chase on foot a while back...he got away, but was clearly scared shartless.

Vandalism is the stupidest crime of all.

After touching his wound and seeing blood on his hands, he said, he thought he was going to die.

Haha, what a spaz. OMGZ, I'm gonna die from a plastic BB to the head.

I dunno about dying, but a BB wound really can sting.

The next day, police responded to South Willow Street near the intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Way South where a man was hit by a pellet fired from a passing car.

Given that Washington is a concealed carry state, the cops may have saved those farktards' lives.

The BB CAN kill. Granted, you have to be shot directly in the eye, and even then, the chances of death are still somewhat slim, but it can do more damage than most people think.

Some farktards were just arrested here for driving around shooting cars and people with bb guns. You would have thought it was kids with no adult supervision from one of the lower income neighbor hoods but fark no it was rich kids from the "nice" Area shooting out windows in the cars Of people who probably can't afford to fix them.

I can't stand idiots like the three in this article. They could make things dicey for legitimate players in Washington.

Most insured fields in California require that automatic electric guns have a muzzle velocity no higher than 400 fps.

I have no idea what the limitations in Washington are.

It is not uncommon for airsoft guns, especially spring-powered sniper models or gas powered guns, to shoot upwards of 500 or 600 fps. Some folks can and do modify their AEG's to fire in excess of 400 fps but they are usually caught at the chrono station or just don't bring these "hot" electric guns to the games.

Even allowing for the typical minimum engagement distances (25 feet outside of a building), a 6mm, .25 gram plastic BB travelling at 395 feet per second can break skin through light clothing. We normally wear real combat uniforms and gear to mitigate this because we never know when we are going to run into some high-speed, low-drag woman armed with a replica Mossberg M500 shotgun that's shooting x3 .30 gram bb's at 530 fps at less than 15 feet inside of a building.

The experience airsofters tend to spend more on eye-pro than our guns and we usually have good face protection.

We do not play openly in public and encourage law enforcement to join us - this can be a safe and fun sport but it can be dangerous as hell if common sense is tossed out the window.

Except the article said it was an assault gun replica, so he probably had no idea what he had been shot with. All he knows is that he saw a gun, his head hurt, and now there's blood. Not many would be rational at that time.

luckykobold: real-looking?

Most AEG's are very close replicas of the real-steel weapons they mimic. In the case of Systema PTW's, they are externally indistinguishable(sp?) from real M16 assault rifles and M4 carbines; even weighing the same when fully loaded (though the balance is different because of things like batteries in the butt-stock).

When I was 11 or 12 I shot at a father and daughter walking down the sidewalk with a lever action daisy bb gun - regular metal bb's. It was a pretty good distance and I shot from behind a tree. I really didn't expect to hit them but when I peered back they had stopped walking and the girl was rubbing her elbow. I've always felt bad about it and have never fired any type of gun at a person since. I think you'd have to be a real sociopath to go on a string of shootings but then again some people would probably think I was a sociopath for doing it even once.

When I was a kid, we used to play "Shooting Gallery", and two or three guys would have BB guns, and the rest of us, dressed only in shorts, would run between two trees and try not to get shot.
What the heck do kids these days do for fun?

mprojekt [TotalFark] 2008-04-26 01:00:12 PM
Sociopath? I guess it depends on your state of mind or perhaps what you were doing at the time. If you're fighting as part of a team during a MilSim, then I would HOPE not.

The hearsay is that the crime rate in Marina, CA goes down on the days that we play at Fort Ord. Then again, 911 calls in that city tend to go up in the morning.

Apparently the dispatchers say things like:

"There's no cause for alarm. There is a scheduled training exercise today and officers are present and participating."

BB's and pellets can kill and hurt.

I recently bought a house in Jacksonville, FL and have an asshat neighbor who has this security light in his backyard that he flips on at night, that is so bright it shines through my wifes velevet, move theater like curtains.

He has a streetlight in his front yard, and a huge fence, and no one would would try and steel anything from his craphole.

I asked another neighbor about it, and they said they had all complained, and filed a report, but they guy knows people in the police yada yada. A complete jerk.

Recently he upgraded the bulb to a city standard street light, which would be fine, if it were not on a twelve foot pole. !0 feet away from my bedroom.

So I was at my moms, and dug around in the attic, and ound my old Benjamin pellet rifle, and a box of copperhead pellets.

About 1 am, I pumped it around 12 times, cracked the window and with one shot, shattered it.

I would never shoot that thing at a person.

For some reason when I was a kid I was a toad murderer via bb guns. Musta killed a hundred of em. They were slow and dumb and I ruled my world.

What most people don't know is that some pump-action BB guns and many CO2-powered pellet guns actually have a higher muzzle velocity then a .22 rifle.

I have several BB and airsoft guns. I've drawn blood through clothing with the airsoft gun at point blank range. When my adult daughter yelled and started to say that had REALLY fing hurt, I laughed said "no way" and shot myself in the hand.

This was not one of my better moments. Yeah airsoft doesn't hit hard at all....because the ultra light pellet slows dramatically with air resistance. When fired at point blank range with a co2 powered handgun, the pellet EXPLODES on contact. Yeah.

But still fun to shoot each other with. Now the BB guns i own....it would hurt to be shot by the hand pumped pellet gun, or the co2 powered assault rifle. They would leave a pellet in you. And the drozd firing 6 round bursts of BB's at 600 RPM, that would hurt like a mother.

But then theres the cheap $100 rifle, If I got someone just right it could kill. I'll guarantee if you got hit you'd be in for some serious freaking pain. With the right ammo it CAN just barely fire the pellet so fast it breaks the speed of sound.

And then theres the condor air rifle by air force that I plan on buying soon. This thing is a monster. It could kill someone.

So overall shooting those who aren't interested in being shot is probably a bad idea.

Actually, it's the spring-action pellet guns that approach or equal subsonic .22 rounds. Like my Gamo Varmint Stalker that has quietly laid waste to many, many squirrels since I bought it. Oh, if only I had something like that when I was a kid! FYI, it shoots .177 caliber lead pellets at 1,000 feet per second. Lighter ones go even faster, but tend to be unstable and inaccurate.
