Royal Navy divers spent a fourth day looking in vain for a huge Second World War bomb after losing it on the seabed. The German bomb, weighing 1,100 lbs (500kg)...

Bah! That's a toy!

Why... Why didn't they just detonate it in place? Was there a lot of residential near by or something?

It weighs as much as a VW, and it simply washed ashore?,,Nah.

To me it looks like a capsule, containing an alien life form, awaiting the mothership to return and carry it home.

I ain't buying the lost it thing either.

Neutral buoyancy might have something to do with it

So now the local marine life thinks they're under attack from a bunch of incompetent boobs. "Is that the best they can do?".

Disarming a really big bomb wouldn't scare me because it would kill me before I knew it but having to deal with some little piece of shiat IED that could just take off an arm or leg or half my face would make me a wee bit nervous.

Detonating a bomb of that size on land is a terrible idea.

What is that one used for? Is the cylinder shaped one the people are next to one of the dam buster bombs?

LOL, This happen when I was in the Navy too. THE EOD guys put 20 POUNDS of c-4 on a short line hooked to a buoy. They floated it out a half mile and were going to blow it up to show off for the civilian family members that we had on board. They also promptly lost it. Didnt blow when they hit the button and then it got lost in the swells. Pretty sad.....

the drum shaped one is the bounching bomb and the other one IIRC is a Tall boy and Grand slam.

I don't understand why they wear the michilan man armour.

I mean if both my hands where gonna be blown off if I fark it up, I'd just assume do it unprotected where it will kill me.

The "bomb suit" is so if they do fark up, all the pieces stay together and you get a chance at an open casket funeral.

If parts of you are going to be blown the fark off when you fark up... Thats motivation to do the job right.
