I went to the band's concert in Orlando this past Wednesday - it was rescheduled from Saturday night 4/19 after the announcement of Federici's death. I was surprised it was rescheduled that soon - I expected it to be stuck on at the end of the tour.

The show opened with a video tribute to Danny accompanied by Bruce singing "Blood Brothers" in a dark arena. Very moving. They got right down to business as usual afterward, and it was a great show. I took my neighbor who had never seen them before, and he was blown away by how they almost never stop playing - a song ends, and Bruce counts "1-2-3-4" right into the next one!

Having said that, Danny's absence was palpable. The description of him as a phantom is appropriate - I didn't appreciate how powerful his presence was until it wasn't there anymore. The new keyboardists are great, but I thought I detected a measure or two in "Jungleland" where they lost their way. Bruce says in the eulogy that Danny "naturally supplied the glue that bound the band's sound together." I think I witnessed a little of what he meant by this.

RIP, Phantom Dan.

I figure he led a good life, full of fun and music. I have seen him smile on stage while playing in the background and during his moments in the spotlight. He really seemed to like what he did as do all the members of the band.

I saw the two Anaheim shows a few weeks back and while he is missed the band will go on. I did miss his smile though.

Did he include the part about their buttsecks?

Archie Godwin: I hope Bruce is next.

I'm hoping that one of the great mysteries of the universe will be revealed as Bruce's death bed confession; who is it that writes Bruce Springsteen's songs?

Because it sure as hell ain't Bruce. In every interview I've ever heard him give he sounds like a borderline retard. That NPR series of interviews he gave from a few years ago was truly painful to listen to.

FARK each of you.

It's sad that morons like you are so unhappy with your lives that
you need to try to belittle others that you are jelous of.

When each of you die - and YOU WILL - you will not have ANYONE
give a eulogy for you as touching as this one.

I have been to more shows than I'd care to admit. As an old get-off-my-lawn bastard, I've seen many, many great shows throughout the United States and Europe.

I'm not really that much of a Bruce Springsteen fan. I like some of his stuff ok, but his music never really did that much for me.

Anyhow, a friend of mine had an extra ticket to a sold out show at Capitol Center in Largo, Md many years ago. It was hands down, the best show I ever saw in my life. Bruce Springsteen works a crowd like a fricken puppeteer. He totally owns his audience. He can work them up to a frenzy at the drop of a hat or keep them so quiet, you can hear the hum of the amplifiers.

He might be dumber than a bag of hammers, but he is seriously gifted.

Thanks for the insight. I never realized that unless someones conversational skills were worthy of the Algonquin round table they would not have the ability to write passionate, meaningful music.

I believe you're needed in the day room. Applesauce and coloring!

Nurse Ratched is cutting the corners off the paper right now

I just think that was a great read, and a fine and touching tribute.

Sorry folks. I don't have some bullshiat smartass remark, so I'm not one of the cool kids. But I've never been that cool to begin with.

Bruce is a class act.

Are you really that ignorant regarding the differences between writing and speaking skills? Not specifically as they regard Springsteen, but just in general... what a black hole of dumb you must be.

This is really touching and all, but I'm getting tired of hearing about this guy. I can only imagine the histronics if springsteen himself would keel over.

My guess is the histrionics would be much greater than say...if you keeled over.

Really sucks that someone came over, stuck a gun to your head, and made you read that, huh? Must've been awful...

Come to mention it, it was rather annoying. Disrupted my whole day.

No matter how many times it happens to me, I still find it most unsettling.

But seriously, go back to posting youtube or 4chan comments and leave us the hell alone, troll.

I have enjoyed most of Bruce's interviews. He actually has a sense of humor, rare for rock stars, as is an IQ over 90. E Street Band is one of the best backup bands ever. but i digress.
Ok, shiatbrains, time to go back to mom's basement , put on some early Rush and fire the bong.
