sounds good.

Judas Priest sucks now. I won't get into their quality from back in "the day" but cmon.

I love some older bands but I don't push "they are good because/despite of their age" because it is like celebrating the senior tour in the PGA. If they are good, they are good, don't put an asterisk there or risk ridicule

subby, pretty sure halford could still fark you in the ass until you cried like a girl...while kicking back in his "nursing home" suite.

Yeah Priest is on the greatest bands of all time, Halford is epic, they can do whatever they want and i'm behind it 100% nuff said.........

You're only "pretty sure" about that?

Listening to the new single now and it's pretty good. I am definitely buying this CD when it comes out.

Electric Eye guitar riff. Heavier than your mom.

That is all.

I wonder how many headbangers from the 80s are kicking themselves for dressing like leathermen out cruising!

oh yeah... I had gone out and got the jacket and hat.... and at that time I had shaved my head already ahead of Rob.. and later when I found out he was gay I about killed myself.. hahaha.. oh the joys of being a metal head not caring what others thought.. but truth be told.. I dont care if he was gay or not, that man could BELT OUT the vocals and put on one kick butt show.. next to Queen though.. oh yeah.. there was another gay lead vocalist.. maybe I should stop now while I am ... nevermind.. ;-)

Halford can belt out the tunes; all-time favorite band. Their Angel of Retribution tour was great, and I can't wait for the next one. I feel sad for losers going to Rolling Stones shows and thinking that 'Jumpin Jack Flash' is exciting.

The Priest rocks! Anyone hear anything substantive on their tour with Sabbath, Motorhead, and Testament? Their website, it says nothing.

DonnyBaker: sounds good.

I concur.

Good sounds...as good as they've ever been. Weak lyrics.

SkyDog 2008-04-26 09:27:20 AM
Actually, my favorite band is the Allman Brothers and they hit 40 next year. They sound as good as ever so...

headline FAIL.

This is my issue with Priest today. A song about the Loch Ness Monster? A farking rock opera about Nostradamus?

Musically they're still strong, Halford's voice is still the iconic powerhouse it has always been. Lyrically, meh.

These guys defined the new wave of British metal. Act like it for fark's sake. Go back to writing the basic original shiat, do a tour with nothing later than songs from Defenders and it'll kill.

^^ Agreed.

It rocks, but the lyrics are just plain embarrassing.

Priest have always had cheesy lyrics. They still kick ass

ultrachronic 2008-04-26 01:33:13 PM
Looking forward to seeing them for the first time in June.

...and the second time in August...

Not even close, I grew up in the UK around NWOBHM in the golden era 79-83 and Priest were good but weren't the main player - that was Iron Maiden.

Sounds f'ing great. Lyrics are goofy as usual.

was anyone shocked when Halford came out? he dressed like a Village Person but since he was so cool nobody cared

Ace Frehley's Ghost 2008-04-26 03:06:16 PM
I saw them on the Ram It Down tour. While that wasn't their best album by a long shot, the thing that got me was that it was quite possibly the most intense audience I'd ever been a part of. By the time they came back out for the encore, if Halford had told everyone, "Now we're all going outside and we're going to lift the arena off of its foundation," I believe it would have worked.

No they don't. And Derek is only 28 and Warren Haynes is only 48, so, what the hell point have you made? My 40 year old car runs awesome becuase I replaced it with a 5 year old engine? Please.

/No Betts, no Allmans anymore

aenimation 2008-04-26 08:51:57 PM
what if my favorite band is Yes? they are doing a 40yr anniversary tour this year and will still sound as good as when I saw them on their 35th yr tour

If this would have come out twenty years ago it would have really been something. These days... I guess I need to hear another track or two but I'm afraid my hopes are not many.

galleech 2008-04-26 10:53:51 PM
Wow, this sounds like it will be much better than Angel of Retribution. While I like Angel of Retribution, it was a by the numbers albums; it didn't expand the band's sound or push the envelope like the last three Maiden albums did.

iketurner 2008-04-27 12:05:25 AM
The scream in the first couple minutes killed me.

Halford shows why he's called the Metal god.

browntimmy 2008-04-27 05:29:13 AM
The guitar solo 5 minutes in kicks my ass. And it was written by a 6o year old.

zabbers 2008-04-28 12:15:37 PM
i thought Angel of Retribution was incredibly solid, so i'm really excited for this album.
regarding the comments about only playing the songs from the 70s, early 80s, are you kidding me? they have continued to push into new territory. Painkiller? one of the best sounding metal albums from the 90s. Angel of Retribution was monstrous. i love Turbo/Stained Class/British Steel too, but i don't want to hear the same frickin album done 15 times over, give me something new (which they have!)

/okay, okay, so he doesn't sound as good, but the music's just as great.
