Didn't even click to know that it was Tim Minchin. The only Aussie comedian who I can describe as "at least he's not Paul McDermott."

/Or Wil Anderson, who truly sucks.

I saw him on "Never mind the Buzzcocks" over here, and he was totally comedically outclassed by a guy that had a bit parts on BBC3 dramas. Yeah, owned by a guy that doesn't even call himself a Comedian. Even then he came across as a smug git. I remember thinking at the time "you only get to be arrogant when you've got something to be arrogant about".
I'm totally happy to put it down to a cultural missmatch, maybe the comedy translates ever so slightly out of whack. The thing I remembered most; the thing that was important, the one thing that stood out to me as I watched, the single salient point that I came away with was that HE DIDN'T MAKE ME LAUGH. AT ALL. This clip reinforced that. Ok, one panel show, and one youtube clip is a small sample size, but hell, I'll jump to whatever conclusions I like. This is the internet, I don't have to be well informed or accurate. Hence -

1). STOP BEING SMUG.
2). BROKER, asshat, as in to broker a deal.
3). You're mocking yuppies for being insensitive and crass? I bet that plays really well. IN 1989.
4). STOP BEING SMUG, SRSLY. Other people judge how funny you are, not you.

This is pretty terrible. Saw this video and the one Jacques Lestrap linked. He's a really good pianist, but he really needs work as a comedian.

You want funny? Try Brian Regan. His CD, I Walked On The Moon, is one of the best I've heard in quite a long time.

You want singing comedians? Go with Stephen Lynch, or John "Dr. Dirty" Valby. Valby does just plain filthy parody songs. Stephen Lynch has a plethora of things he sings about.

I've got two words for you, and one of them is Greek:

Zach Galifianakis (new window)

His act is a lot like this Australian guy's, except, you know, funny.

Not bad on the piano. Too bad he sucks on the organ.
