If only Rush would let them release one of their albums. Preferably 2112. That would be awesome to play.

Saborlas [TotalFark] 2008-04-21 10:16:42 PM
Harmonix has officially fulfilled all promises. With the recent patch, I'd say they've exceeded them. We weren't expecting them to fix design problems down the road. Maybe fix a few showstopper bugs, but not tweak the singing detection for tighter accuracy. Or increase the fan caps. Or put a music store INTO THE GAME ITSELF (with preview clips and difficulty ratings) so you didn't have to go to Xbox Live Marketplace (or the Playstation Network, if that's your bag) to buy new songs.

This game is really raising the bar on aftermarket support. Making a lot of other companies look lazy by comparison.

Hell, they're only one song away from having Boston's entire first album on there.

Screaming for Vengeance? Nice.

I'd go with Moving Pictures, myself.

Something tells me tone deaf kids singing Priest may lead to some headaches/fist fights.

Give me Who's Next and The D, and I will give my immortal soul to Harmonix.

Submitter, I don't mind you hanging 'round, and wasting all my time.

Pixies, though, are the best American rock band. Ever.

I think all three albums are cool, but...I dunno about the Cars. I love the album but don't know about playing it on this game. I still want to be able to play the Who's "Who's Next." And any Led Zeppelin Song at all at this point.

h3dge 2008-04-22 01:18:27 AM
a (meh) for priest? for shame...

Priest was one of the true founders of metal...this may introduce some of the younger generation into the beginnings of hard rock...

Too bad they can't release that patch that let's you use GH3 controllers with Rock Band on PS3. Activision sucks.

Yeah. It's too bad all of my instruments have broken at least once. My microphone was non-functional out-of-box and the drums had been visibly dropped from some height. I did of course get a replacement for that after three weeks. But I don't know anyone who hasn't had to tape together their drum pedal, which can't even handle the double-hits that many songs require.

I didn't get the chance to download Who's Next to break them myself :(
Seriously, fark EA. As companies realize that people will pay a premium for specialized-controller accessories like GH and Rock Band or light guns, I will make sure to never buy any game that includes a piece of plastic shiat manufactured for EA.

I played that game for the first time on Saturday, I figure it would do well with some Led Zeppelin, some Ben Harper(from Live at Mars) and Devotchka, maybe using regular controllers as theremin and accordions, and maybe violins. I also think some more sing-along type songs would be fun.

WINNAR!

Personally, I'd like to see more metal and not of the Priest kind. Thunderhorse and Six are 2 of my favorite songs to play on GH2. I want that kind of stuff for Rock Band. Just no more Metallica. Please for the love of all that is good and right in this world, no more Metallica.

Nathan_X: Give me Who's Next and The D, and I will give my immortal soul to Harmonix.

I don't see Tenacious D happening, if only because a lot of the songs on their self-titled CD are simple. I'm not sure if they'd be able to take the songs and split them up so they'd be fun for all four players...but I'd be thrilled if they could find a way.

That said, "Who's Next" (anyone know if it's still slated for release?) would almost be reason enough for me to buy an Xbox 360 and Rock Band.

How about let me use my own music and supply an editor to apply the screen events. I already own enough music, I don't need to buy the album again, especially if it's in a form that strictly limits it to one video game..

Wow subby you be the young. Screaming for Vengeance is f'n badass. Truly though, I think all 3 of these albums are great and I've seen each of these bands live more than once. Deal with it and GET THE HELL OFF MY LAWN!

Oh, y'all like the band. I assumed all the caps were implying that you find the music so loud and annoying that you consciously block out all sound to escape it and had to shout.

Pyynk 2008-04-22 02:40:10 AM
The Pixies would make me happier than a Ninja at an asskicking convention, but there is still a MAJOR hole in Rockband's music selection. Specifically they have an entire genre of clothes dedicated to goth music -- and there's not a single goth or pseudo goth band in the game OR in the DLC. I'm not asking for Christian Death or the Sisters of Mercy. Christian Death is pretty damn obscure and the Sisters are too synth driven to work for the game. What would work though is most of the Cure's early stuff, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, or Joy Division.

Also add me to the list of people who're hoping that Page, Plant, and Jones will sell out and at least one Zep song makes it into the DLC. I'd love some "Whole Lotta Love" or "Traveling Riverside Blues".

Gangway Fathead 2008-04-22 02:41:21 AM
I won't be happy until I can play Daft Punk and Cat Power!

Just kidding. I don't have access to this game at all and just wanted to play the music snob card. I don't care for either of those artists.

h3dge: Priest was one of the true founders of metal...this may introduce some of the younger generation into the beginnings of hard rock...

I totally agree. They are one of metals greats. Kids appreciate them too. A couple of weeks ago I saw a kid walking down the street with a British Steel shirt on. It looked like he had just bought it at Hot Topic, but still it was good to see a kid wearing it. I see a lot of kids wearing Maiden shirts too.

and the Pixies' Doolittle (OMFG AWESOME)

I, quite literally, squealed with glee when I read this headline. Hell, I still am. I've been listening to Doolittle almost exclusively for the last week.

This is the single biggest thing motivating me to buy a PS3, right now. Hopefully they'll find some way to work it into a Wii release, though, since I can't really afford it.

If you already own a copy, why should you have to buy another copy merely have it in the game? Why can't you just copy it over and load up a file that lets the game know what to do with the song. They're ripping you off. This isn't a joyous occasion, they've conned to keep repaying for the same stuff over again.

Because there's a lot more to the copy they provide than just sound.

I mean, that's pretty goddamn obvious.

Yeah feba already covered it, but seriously, it just isn't that simple. Take a look at some of the amateur sequences on youtube, they almost all suck. Multiply that times 4 instruments.

Rock Band DLC is my preferred method of buying music now. I've got a shiat ton of music already, like you mention, so now this is a new way for me to experience and enjoy the music I love. This is also the argument against "Pick up a real instrument asshole!"

If they didn't do it for The Grateful Dead DLC, then they never will. Altough I can think of a few that would kickass for Rock Band.

/The Last Waltz anyone?
