Wow, an Internet-aversive Internet Tough Guy™! Somebody get that boy to a zoo so we can study his habits!

FTFA:
Do people wake up in the morning, look into the mirror, and say, "I steal other people shiat all day"? If so, you should know that you are a scumbag, and if I catch you I will kick the shiat out of you.

"I steal other people shiat all day". Guhhhhh, Hurrrrr..... Does this guy really speak like Captain Caveman like that?

No, I hardly ever announce what I'm going to do when I wake up. Why, do you? Your music sucks, btw. But I'll make you a deal, one ITG to another: I'll go download some of your crappy music if you agree to show up at my house and attempt to kick my ass. Deal?

Hotness of Tera Patrick aside, must be weird climbing up on her every night, knowing she's been with at least two dozen guys that he can't match up to sexually. Even if he can hold his own, there's the odds to consider.

I thought the same. Then I saw some interview they did together. Tera was actually planning on leaving the industry for him before they married. It was his idea that she stay. He saw a marketable commodity, she was down, profit. She's bigger than Jenna Jameson now. I give them credit. You've gotta be pretty damn open to survive a marriage like that.

Takes a level of patience and understanding that I wouldn't have... that's for sure.

I can't imagine my wife coming home and being too tired for sex because she's been getting double-railed all day.

Personally, as a creative guy, [I feel that] it's wrong. If you are going to steal from someone, steal programs from Microsoft 'cause they can afford it, but don't steal from creative artists who make movies and music and TV programs for your enjoyment because you become part of the problem.

Someone should kick this guy's ass.

That's as stupid as saying that gas companies are the scourge of drivers. You think all the musicians out there just want to play in a little corner bar and be left alone? What do you think record producers do?

Walt_Jizzney 2008-04-21 07:07:51 PM
Wow - the age-old arguement 'Well, you make all your money from teh tours, so it's okay to steal your music". Just like the good old classics like:

"But...but...but the CD only has 2 good songs out of 12!!!!111!",
"But...but...but...the industry makes crap music!!!"
and
"Teh RIAA suxxorz!!!11!!!"

What do you say to acts that DON'T tour, eh subby? Like many electrnic, spoken word, classical and orchestral acts? What about bands no longer together? Are they supposed to take umbrage that they can make all of their cash from t-shirt sales?

This is basically him saying

Fark him, his crappy band (who were never really that good), and his career in porn

Hey dude, consider Bittorrent like being on Clear Channel, only your record company doesn't have to give payola to anyone, and people know who you are and what you do for free.

Except for me, I've never heard of Biohazard, because I don't use Bittorrent. See how that works?

or shouldn't if you're crafty enough.

Biohazard sucks and this guy is a no talent dildo. Nobody cares what you have to say. Just play your bass and STFU. Next they'll be telling us what the drummer from Warrant's take is on copyright infringement.

I think his problem is people are downloading his music and realizing it sucks so now nobody's showing up to their shows in the band-shell at the Bum-farked County Iowa fair.

Wow, best fark handle I've seen in a very long time.
And I agree with your point. He wants to think he's relevant, but I've never heard of him, her, or the band. And I do use torrents. I've downloaded plenty of crap, knowing full well it might be crap but wanting to give it a shot. Some was as bad as I expected, some (but certainly not all) I went out and bought for better quality.

Personally, I only steal music from small bands and lesser known artists. Independent musicians are the best. That way I know I'm making a meaningful impact on their bottom line. I mean, why bother ripping off some huge, mega-star? It's like stealing a quarter from a millionaire: pointless. Ripping off smalltime artists, though, you get way more bang for your unspent buck. That CD sale I've screwed them out of has to hurt way more. It's like stealing a twenty from a homeless guy: priceless. And by priceless I mean around $20 (Give or take).

Antidamascus 2008-04-21 07:50:35 PM

What you call stealing, I call "try before you buy". If I download an album that I am curious about, and end up liking more than half of it, I buy it. If not, then I just clear the space off my hard drive, and no one is out any money.

/suck it, haters.

T-Luv 2008-04-21 08:10:05 PM
I don't understand why these musicians seem to think every time someone downloads a song of theirs for free, it equates to lost revenue. Most of the stuff I have downloaded is stuff I never would have been interested in getting if I had to pay for it. There are so many bands that just aren't worth what the major labels want us to pay for them. Unfortunately, the cost of buying an album in stores when you only want one song is impractical. Even with I-tunes, on more than one occasion, I have wanted just one song off an album, but you could only get it if you bought the entire thing. Why the hell can't I just buy the one damn song? People don't want to pay the money labels ask for when most of the time the actual artist will see a very small percent. I have no problem buying music from a good band if I know I am supporting the band. All too often we, the consumers, see our beloved bands get swallowed up by major labels. That alone can turn people off to buying music from bands on major labels.

I feel bad for some of my friends who have been making money with their indie bands. In the good old days you could sell a few thousand copies of your album if you had a good following in your region. These days it's hard to sell a few hundred. My friend pressed 1000 coppies of his most recent album and couldn't even give them away. It seems as soon as it comes out someone's put it on all the torrents and nobody wants to pay any money for it. I understand both sides of the argument. I give away just about all music I make, but that's because I am not very established as an artist. You have to get your stuff out there and get a reputation for quality and talent(in my opinion) before you can start expecting people to pay you for an album they have never heard.

Alright I need to share this story:

I was at a Streetlight Manifesto concert last night and while the other members were getting ready for the next song Tomas told a story about how a guy from the Richmond emailed him saying how the were mocking his values (religion) on their new album. Now, as he said, this was three months before the album actually came out so he would have "stolen" that album to hear it which Tomas pointed out as pretty funny/hypocritical. He then said he doesn't care if you download the songs but don't go saying that they are insulting your values when technically you are breaking them.

/seemed related
//2nd time seeing them. first time got me to listen to them, this time got me to have a damn good time there

J13P 2008-04-21 08:15:10 PM
the record industry brought this on them selves...

they removed the low price items from the shelves(singles/ep's)

THEN they get pissed cause i wont pay 18 dollars for a cd-I may have only heard one song on.

How many times have you paid 15 = for a disc..taken it home, and it sucks ass.

yeah i dont gamble anymore on that- I just download.

ALSO-lets not forget the RIAA is now being sued by musicians..cause no one knows where the money is going they are getting from sueing 15 year olds and college kids.. THATS RIGHT EVAN...YOUR GETTING SCREWED BY ME AND THE RIAA

im gonna go download some biohazard right now..

FARK YOU EVAN

Goddamn, some of you still aren't over downloading?

The old days are OVER. It's just reality now. Not you, not any piece of shiat ISP, not any bloated government bureaucracy - is going to stop it. Nobody gives a shiat about your moral platitudes or laws.

So take a cue from Jeff and stop your whining and get with the program.

"Downloading free music is stealing. There's no other way about it."
True statement, conveniently ignored. And to Ron Paul Revere - downloading doesn't "slightly" affect royalty income. It has trashed it. How do I know? I get a royalty statement every quarter. And so do all my friends. Nice people. Getting our work stolen. And if you think 90 percent of the working writers and musicians go out and make music on the road, you have Britney complex. It's mostly vans and hard work and breaking even if you're lucky.

Just wondering, how do you know that people who download your songs would have actually bought the music if there was no option to download? Also, would you rather people heard your creation for free, than never heard it at all? Genuine curiosity.

I want them to hear it...Im a musician. The off chance that someone would hear it and dig it. I have no problem saying i make more money at shows then i do on D/loads. The selling of merch is how i live when im on the road. The show itself, and said monies, go right to the production of the show...and paying the very small staff i have on the road.

Nearly all working musicians who have CDs make most of their money from CD sales. Why do you think they sell CDs at their shows? Take a look at your music collection. How many of the artists are there that you've never seen in a live show?

The fact is that incomes for recorded music overall is a lot more than income from concerts except for about a dozen acts.

If musicans aren't paid for their music, then there will just be more crappy music.
