Oh no. Now they have to find guys that are willing to have sex with them for free.

Let's be fair.

I thought everyone in Michigan was at least a quarter-million dollars in debt.

Heh, Az's deficit this year is projected in the millions. 250k is one red light camera. Get on it Michigan!

should have read the article, it's just the party debt.

Um, the Republican Party is $250K in debt, not the state government.

By paying interest on debt they are supporting the banking industry and helping our economy.

the republican party used to be rich people who occasionally took advantage of idiots who couldn't manage their finances and were easily swayed by buzz words.

but i think the mental patients have taken over the asylum.

I know people in Michigan and truthfully I wouldn't belong to any party in Michigan, I'd leave. In fact, I left 20 years ago and never looked back.

More big government, less Big Nurse?

/possibly a little obscure

Oregon's Republican party is also far far in debt.

I guess that "deficits don't matter" attitude is starting to catch up with them.

You know...I live in Michigan. I love Michigan, and if I could, I would stay here forever. But with the economy the way it is, I'll never be able to get a job here after I graduate (Chemistry degree). And it sucks that I will probably have to move.

/Michigan rocks.

I moved years ago and each year that goes by, I'm happier that I did. When I go back to visit family, the state just looks more and more depressing.

Oh, and Ed Willy, the rest of us didn't wait around on our arse for "Trickle Down" we left Michigan and moved to where the money was!

Agreed. The job market sucks, all the fun places are drying up due to people being unable to get jobs to afford living here, and on top of it all the jobs are now either part-time/30 hours a week affairs without benefits of any sort. It's the abyss, and I can't see how it'll be better when people keep leaving en masse just to find work.

And imagine how it'll look when a bunch of people go into retirement and leave their second retail jobs. I'm sure the legion of teens and twentysomethings that finally can find a job will be glad of it, granted if they're still in the state.

Michigan used to be nice. Now? shiathole. It's not going to get better.

What about DOW Chemical? Are they hiring?

They seem to do fine with their own finances

I pity any Michigan teens. Its going to be impossible to get a job because they all require experience. Jobs are so scarce that people are getting anything they can. 20 years of automotive experience? You can work at Krogers as a cashier, because you have job experience.

You'll get it over the hordes of 16 year olds trying to apply, too. The problem, though, is that a lot of these kids are going off to college without ever having been able to get a job (the ones that wanted it, anyway) and I know a lot of parents who want their kids to get jobs so that they can learn the value of a dollar. Except you can't get jobs, because you're competing against people who have more life experience than you and are desperate.

For the ones that go to college, this is nothing, but for the ones who stupidly have no plans after highschool (which is a lot, unfortunately) they're going to have a hell of a hard time getting a job from here on out. Being 19, or 20, or even 21 with no job experience does NOT look good to an employer.

No idea. But from everything I've seen, every company in Michigan (see Pfizer for a great example) is either shutting down or severely downsizing. Not good news for job security.

Ah ha! The republicans DO have a plan. Wreck the economy, bolster the army. It's so like them.

I find that Michigan's economy is not THAT bad. It's really the job pool. The people applying are awful. They come in stoned, in ripped shirts and speaking something hardly resembling english and want me to hire them.

I am starting a business here, and i'll do ok, but i am afraid that eventually the economy will get as bad as people claim it is and I'm sunk.

MrCab [TotalFark] 2008-04-21 01:16:04 AM
If it's less than a million, it's damn good for this government. Good job there. Just fix it next year

What part of MI? Detroit is pretty bad, as are some of the suburbs around here. There are literally blocks that have vanished because the homes "accidentally" burn down after being abandoned for so long.

I like how they're hoping the "more liberal federal" rules will help them turn things around.

Of course, they're Republicans. What they need to do is cut out on the dues their members will have to pay. That way, they can raise even MORE taxes to fix the budget deficit!
