Obama bias?

OK, submitter, now tell us whether that bias is towards or against the man.

bronyaur1 [TotalFark] 2008-04-20 10:00:24 AM
I can't figure out why the NY and LA big-media players are so unabashedly in the tank for Hillary, while the majority of independent outlet analysts support Obama. The ABC debate was only one little tile in a big mosaic.

The math says it is OVER. There is only a very tiny chance that Hillary would be able to blackmail undecided superdelegates into supporting her, but if that happens, the Democrats will get killed in November.

Skleenar 2008-04-20 10:00:37 AM

Oh, and leave it to your news source to ruin a good Fark headline:

Obama Campaign Revives Attack Over Clinton's 'Bosnia' Account

So Hillary is mad because she cannot defend against it.

Obama: See, she lied, she admitted as much.

Hillary: OMG, look how NEGATIVE he is! I TOLD YOU he would be NEGATIVE! HE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OF US!

Obama: Um, she lied.

Hillary: OMG, this is the WORST Negative attack of off Negative Attacks, Karl Rove must be on his Campaign team!

Obama: Um.... she lied.

Clinton: How DARE he keep bringing this up, I already Addressed it! GOD
Obama: L I E D

"Boy when the Obama campaign decides to go negative, they really go negative!" Wolfson said.

If that's as negative as they can go then this is gonna be the least negative campaign in recent history.

log_jammin [TotalFark] 2008-04-20 10:17:29 AM
"Today, on a Saturday before the election, they have a conference call?" Wolfson asked rhetorically.

A conference call????? That MONSTER!!!

He's HITLER I tells ya! HITLER!!!!

The Bosnia comment was the most blatant example of Hillary's lack of integrity. She brings up his lack of experience, he counters with her lack of character. You can gain experience but you can't "gain" honesty.

Telling the truth is not an attack.

Telling a lie is not admirable.

This is really a generational divide. Clinton's generation of politicians believes you say what people want to hear. Its the polite thing to do.

Anybody younger knows you have to tell the truth now. Fact checking is easy and cheap.

Jesus, that article is biased. I'd expect that from some random blog, but from the ABC?

Lawnchair 2008-04-20 10:44:45 AM
from the debate

SENATOR OBAMA: I'm going to have to respond to this just really quickly, but by Senator Clinton's own vetting standards, I don't think she would make it, since President Clinton pardoned or commuted the sentences of two members of the Weather Underground, which I think is a slightly more significant act than me [yada yada]

MR. GIBSON: And Senator Clinton, I'm getting out of balance in terms of time.

SENATOR CLINTON: I've noticed. (Laughs.)

MR. GIBSON: And you're getting shortchanged here. And so if you want to reply here, fine. If you want to wait, we'll do it in the next half hour.

SENATOR CLINTON: We can wait.

MR. GIBSON: All right.

Of course they didn't get back to it. Not mentioned again. The biggest turd dropping of the Clinton years (all the various 2001 pardons). Obama mentions it, and it's "Senator Clinton... wouldn't you just rather we went to commercials? And, how's that pillow?".

I wonder if that's true. Putting aside the silly idea that Obama has ever been a jihadist. At what point does somebody's past associations become moot?

I did some stupid ass shiat in my twenties. I learned from those mistakes and it brought me wisdom. I am more interested in how somebody has behaved overall than what idiotic things they did when they were young, dumb and full of cum.

farking brilliant.

if the swifties can do it to kerry, why not. turnabout is fair play, right? so - let's get this thing going: mccain was a coward pussy who let himself be shot down because he couldn't handle the war, and while in captivity, he spilled his guts to his captors, endangering brave american soldiers' lives.

For the same reason that only independents and Knight-Ridder were even attempting to do their jobs as journalists before the Iraq war.

AIPAC picked Hillary and McCain long before this contest even got off the ground. I predicted all of this anti-Obama bias, and the subtle ways they would try to mask it, shortly thereafter. You want to know how the American Mainstream Media will report anything of any consequence in the Mid-East (like who our next President is) go read The Jerusalem Post. The anti-Obama fervor there is quite evident.

In short, here is the answer to your question:

Jeffrey Zucker, CEO NBC TV, Zionist
Robert Iger, CEO ABC, Zionist
Leslie Moonves, CEO CBS, grandnephew of David Ben Gurion, Zionist
Jonathon Klein, CEO CNN, Zionist
Peter F. Chernin, President and COO FOX, Zionist

ah, so it's "teh joos," is it? while i may believe that the US is disproportionately beholden to israel, i think that your assertion is patently ridiculous and borderline anti-semitic.

I'd just stop there. The statement itself isn't anti-semitic, but it is indicative of a general anti-semitism.

Here's a question though- when did "semite" get redefined to mean "Jews only". Arabs are semitic as well.

I'm an admitted Obama fan, and I have been torn with this question:

Is it dirty politcs to point out when your opponent messed up?

Take, for example, when the swiftboat vets were lying about Kerry.
These vets are telling the truth about a lie Clinton made. Is that dirty, too?

Or when Clinton attacked Barack for complaining about the ABC debate, and Obama responded by pointing out the Ohio debates (new window). The one where she brought up the SNL skit and asked if Barack wanted a pillow. Is that dirty?

We know lying is dirty politics, but what about pointing out the ugly truth?

/Like mentioing Hillary Clinton's cankles

a good question. and i'm not one to throw that term around, unlike a few people i could name. in other words, i do not equate criticism of israel with anti-semitism. but... to suggest that there's an aipac-controlled conspiracy to pit clinton against mccain is laughable.

that being said, there is a bona fide "whispering campaign" in jewish circles that obama is anti-israel (i myself have received several forwarded emails from jewish friends on this matter), which is sad and shameful.

t3knomanser 2008-04-20 11:29:31 AM
Son_Dee: Is it dirty politcs to point out when your opponent messed up?

No. Clinton is using the age old tactic: attack your opponent on your weakest points. Clinton's been ridiculously negative- even to the point of outright fabrication (the local ads around Pittsburgh are awful)- so she accuses Obama of being negative.

It's wonderful because it deflects scrutiny from her, and- if used properly, can entirely change the debate.

Unfortunately for her, Obama is the first 21st century candidate. With the always on, always connected world, he's far more adept at navigating the media. If he wins the nomination, it's the death knell for 20th century politics.

If I'm the Obama campaign, I go radio silence from here through Tuesday. The only person that talks to the media is Barack himself, and only in controlled settings. The polls show this thing is within the margin of error for either candidate. That's a win for him. Now just needs to ensure nothing farks it up.

My wife and I both strongly disagree with Obama on many issues. But he has demonstrated a character that is amazingly respectable (for a politician) and also seems to be very strong on consensus-building as opposed to dominating leadership.

Clinton and McCain both want to be Bush presidents- a strong executive that dominates the other branches and forces through the reforms they feel are appropriate. Obama seems to want to be a mediator, someone who works with the other branches.

Right now, I feel that the single most important issue is unchecked executive power. Obama is the only candidate that has expressed any interest in weakening that power and working within the Constitutional separation of powers.

//Well, him and Ron Paul.
//Ron Paul: So crazy it just might work!
