Eh, they sounded like shiat anyway.

Lets talk frankly about internal cleanliness 2008-04-20 04:54:15 AM
I haven't seen anything like this since the Helsinki episode of 1919, and I think we all remember how that turned out...

WrongTrousers 2008-04-20 05:09:13 AM
Gee, Axl, think you might have been a bit farked up at the time? Or are ya really that stupid to take on thousands of people with a accusedly poor security team - for a camera?

llamatron [TotalFark] 2008-04-20 05:26:53 AM
Screw that, G&R were a classic rock band. "Sweet Child of Mine" and "Paradise City" were great songs. The only major problem they had was the size of Axl's ego, but that's pretty much how life is meant to be with a rock band.

it's funy how, right before he jumps, he looks like he's pulling his hat down tight...

just so it doesn't fall off for no particular reason

Just reinforces by belief that Axl Rose is an assmunch.

Ah, da poor wittle babies... a fan was taping their show. Those bastard fans! How DARE they want to tape the show!

/Love how they started falling apart after that
//Good band, but HORRIBLY overrated

Can't view video at work, but I had a friend from church working at that show.

THANK YOU! Someone else likes that line!

From the video's caption:

Consequently, Use Your Illusion's artwork featured a hidden message amidst the Thank You section of the album insert: "fark You, St. Louis!"

To which St. Louis responds: fark you, Axl.

/former St. Louisan.
//will be at Riverport this coming Thursday for the Buffett concert, and there will be no such offbeat shenanigans.

WTF? Someone left St. Louis?

a decent little rock 'n' roll band with a giant asshat for a singer.

/izzy was the best member anyway.
//would love me a '62 tele custom like that

How is anything on the internet "rare"?

I think axl is a douche...
BUT he doesnt work for a law office or the government. HE IS A DRUG ADDLED ROCK STAR! WHY WOULD YOU EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFERENT.

Im a booking agent...I got a call from the road and I hear from the venue the lead singer of the opening band destroyed an office of a guy who were taking them for a about 3grand. At first i was ashamed i was working with such idiots. I called a close friend who owns a VERY LARGE independent record company.. he said/ What did you expect? you work with musicians.. They are in a mob mentality of us aganist them while on tour..and they have nothing to do-but get farked up all day. If you sepnt 4 weeks getting wasted, and playing music...you would do unpredictable things as well..

they didnt lose 1 million dollars in gear, i dont see how thats possible. Maybe that the fact that they could have lost insurance money cause it was there fault...but the other thing is-he was probably exagerating--have you read slash's book? all that guy did was heroin and blow.

Saw them in Knoxville a few days before this show.

GnR made everyone wait until 10:00 on a Tuesday night before they went on stage, and they sounded like shiat. They almost had a riot in Knoxville.

Axl Rose is the worst singer ever. I have to change the station if a GnR song is on, or my brain will leak out of my ears when he starts in with his dying-cat screech.

FlyingJ 2008-04-20 09:15:37 PM
I like Slash's book(he got his nickname from Seymour Cassel, how cool is that?), but the whole time he was f'd up, you can bet the creative accountants have a field day with guys like that. And Slash's repeated declarations "we were soooo different from the other lame Sunset Strip metal bands" was so bogus. How? In that clip we have Axl in some kind of fur shirt & SS-style biker cap! It's the smart move to claim it was a borderline Altamont Speedway situation...& where is that video of the knife-wielding guy on stage? If I get a free Dr Pepper this year I'll change my mind.

John_Rat_Safari 2008-04-20 09:44:31 PM
Not impressed with GnR, never was. I saw Hanoi Rocks about ten times before Razzle 'left' and when GnR came along I was a little shocked that this HR tribute act was not laughed out of town, I guess America hadn't experienced Hanoi Rocks like we had in London... at least not America outside of a few bands on the strip anyway.

Axl's a douche and always will be a douche.

baufan2005 2008-04-21 12:30:58 AM
To me Axl is and always will be the second best frontman ever. The first being Freddy Mercury.

Shatner's Toupee 2008-04-21 01:13:01 AM
I was there that night. God, the good ol mullet days.

Tear gas, hoses, chairs flying everywhere. I still remember sitting in traffic trying to get out of the parking lot and seeing someone pushing a stack of speakers past me on the way to their car.

Pyro Messiah 2008-04-21 09:31:51 AM
The total chaos surrounding this band is one of the things that made them great. Axl is easily one of the best frontmen ever, crazy or not.

I had a few friends at the show on the lawn and they watched it unfold from the top(back) row of the grass. They too said there was not enough security for the large crowd, but also said Rose was a ________(insert any name from past comments) for jumping in.

I guess we always have the Red Rocker who plays here every year. And that's about it.

Mike3k22 2008-04-21 06:16:01 PM
Break Pad should never have jumped in and if they didn't have enough security, don't go on in the first place. Hell, that's what Driveshaft was/is good at anyway. Not performing.

Hey Wheel Bearings, when's Chinese Democracy coming out? Oh, never? Good.

"They appear to be walking off the stage."
"Interesting strategy, Cotton. Lets see how it plays out for them."

/Late to the party
//love that movie
///was at the meadowlands show the next summer when they walked off early after getting pelted with bottles by the metallica fans
