Wasn't there a senate candidate who did something similar to this?

The republicans were running someone who had a chance of winning, so this guy ran against him and beat him in the primary, then promptly endorsed the Democrat?

/I'm off to Google, but I don't want to get scooped.

now if only we can get clinton to do that ...

And I'm back.

Pat Leahy was the senator. Jack McMullen ran against him in 1998, but people thought that he was a carpetbagger, so they persuaded Fred Tuttle to run against him. As soon as Tuttle got the Republican nom, he endorsed Leahy.

Wait, did that happen to Lieberman, too?

/Fred Tuttle is not Henry Tuttle.
//Or Archibald Tuttle.

Darnit. Henry Tuttle should be Harry Tuttle.

But he was next in line! He even had the colors picked for the office.

So, in this article, the statistical study of the "Colbert Bump" is described as having some "truthiness" to it (see title of article). Clearly the reporter, Andrea "Rupert's tool" Thompson, has no idea what truthiness means. The term refers to things that a person claims to know intuitively or from the gut without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.

I don't think a statistician's study counts as lacking evidence, logic, or intellectual examination...that job is usually reserved for Fox News, isn't it?

Wrong thread.

But as a consolation prise, have a picture of Tom Tuttle (Volunteer-Tacoma, WA), since that seems to be where this thread is headed.

"This is just another dimension to life in Westlake Hills," says Claunch.

He sounds so optimistic.

Another fine article, Fox. Westlake Hills is actually West Lake Hills, and as for it being a small town, it may only have roughly 3100 residents, but it sits right up against Austin and has a median household income of over $100,000. That's not exactly what I picture when I think of a "small central Texas town."

Remove all Republicans: Either way, this doesn't surprised me in the least. McCain's best strategy is to send Bush door-to-door bragging about the Democratic candidate.

Wait until he gets to my door.
