Its times like this that its frustrating that because the offender is a "child by law" that he is not really held accountable for his actions.

At 12, this kid knows whats right and wrong... and had he been an adult, 3 strikes you are out, but since he is a "child"... Nothing happens... Frustrating.

Megain, perhaps the subby was thinking of this line FTA: It says the boy was first brought to DOCS's attention when he was five. . (and no, I'm not the subby)

Now onto the meat of the article. Do they have a locked psych ward at juvie there? If so, that is where this kid needs to be!

constitution ect...............

I made a choice tonight to walk a mile or two rather than drive drunk which is a dumb decision at the very least. Don't get me wrong, back in like 1998 when I didn't give a shiat what happened to me, i drove that all the time.. But tonight, I knew better. I knew that I should not drive, based on the amount of alcohol I consumed. So I walked toward where I live. I still had three cop cars stop me. They were doing their job. they treated me fairly. what information did they collect? any military people know what happened to me? I want to feel like they did me a favor and gave me a ride home. But I can't help but feel like they farmed some info so they can screw me later. whats happens here?

FTFY. If the kid is this bad already, he's completely hopeless as far as ever obtaining rationality and sense. He's not going to suddenly sprout a conscience. Your only option is to convince him that if he engages in antisocial behavior, the reaction will be swift and horrible.

You read this tomorrow and realize you have an alcohol problem. You read this and recognize you failed to appreciate the even lowly civilians know that terminology like "walked toward" is horsecrap, and that you're probably well aware of some heinous crime you committed.

There were a couple of kids down the street from me who were on the same path. They had been caught shooting at windows with a slingshot then a pellet gun. They broke 2 of my neighbors windows and a sliding glass door of a house down the street. One day I was upstairs working when I saw them loitering out front. I stood so I could watch them and bingo, they started throwing rocks. I walked out the back door and caught the boy by the collar. His sister threw a rock at me but missed. I asked her to come over to me, she didn't. When I said "if you want to see your brother ever again you will". They both started crying. I collared them both then told them to sit on the ground while we had a talk.

I explained that breaking windows wasn't good, it cost people money. The girl said "we can't go to jail". I said "Ever hear of juvi? Prison for kids? I can arrange that if you want." That got really scared. I went into the house and got my West Law book and said "see this? I use it at work - as a magistrate. I can arrange for you to go to juvi for a few years." That got them crying again.

I then told them that what they were doing was wrong. I went out on a limb and said that I thought they looked like a couple of nice kids from a bad situation and I hoped that they'd change. Damn if they didn't. I let them go and the next time I saw them they greeted me. No more broken windows after that. DSS ended up removing them later, poor kids.

I know there are plenty of military or post-military farkers. I was merely asking for a bit of advice. Maybe I left myself open for criticism, My bad.

Good effort you drunk fark. You stepped from nowhere into a thread about a 12-year-old Aussie kid with a screwed up life to tell the whole world about your valiant effort to not drive drunk. Good job on not driving drunk, now shut the fark up and go to bed my alcoholic hero.

Some scary real prison time, Like that used on Montel Wiliam's show is exactly what this kid needs.

Once this kid realizes his cornhole is likely to be violated in the future, If he continues to be a menace, He will straighten up.

Alcoholic Paranoia is quite common. You should thank the police that they drove you home, So you didn't wander/stumble into traffic along side the road.

First, you came to the wrong place for advice. You shouldn't have thread jacked to pose your question.

That said, since you asked. I'm assuming from what you said you are military, or on a military base. They stopped you because, believe it or not, they do ticket you for drunk walking. At least they did at Quantico. Personally, I think that policy is stupid, at least you're not driving.

Now go to bed, sleep it off. And drink less in the future.

If you're asking about the military because you were on a base and got a ride from an MP/SF/SP... you're fine. They have no problem with the proud tradition of not driving home... my marine friends refer to it as "the drunken low crawl home." They understand that DUI's are much more serious for servicemen than they are in civi-world because you very quickly lose your security clearance and all the rest, so most of the time, if you aren't causing trouble as you make your way home, you're fine. Where you seem to be confused is that you seem to think that MPs/SF/SPs... well, you seem to think they give a damn. Unlike civi world where there are quotas and such, military police don't have such things, their split mission is defending bases (outside threats), and keeping people safe. When you get off as many domestic violence and disorderly conduct charges, you don't tend to be in the mood to give a crap about the guy making responsible choices... so you either help em get home, or you check to see that they seem ok enough to stagger home on their own, then go on your way.

/summary: nobody cares about your alcoholism so long as you keep it in your off-hours.

Last summer I had a 12 year old kid break into my house, steal 3 of my guitars, my digital camera (which he and his sisters took pics of themselves with my stuff...glad he was stupid), my wedding ring, and NUMEROUS other stuff. Long story short: His mom told me to press charges as this was the FIFTEENTH TIME he had done this. He's in juvenile jail until he's 18 and then some.
