One of the comments on the article mentioned that Needles may be wanting to join Nevada to make gambling legal. Makes sense.

I've been through Needles before and there wasn't anything I saw that made me wanna stop.

I hope they get to join Nevada. I'm all for the whole eastern half of California joining or becoming another state. The idiots in Sacramento are on a crusade to utterly destroy this state and I would love to not be under their yoke.

Our elementary school's library had a whole bunch of very thick old 1960's Peanuts books. I probably read every one of them ten times between 1980-83. Good memories.

The way his comic dragged on for two decades (or more) too long tarnished what was a great strip in its heyday.

Sooo, they're right next to Arizona. They could easily just toss the border over a few feet and be in it. But they want to be a little isolated outpost of Nevada that in no way connects to the state? Yeah, I think the heat got to them. At least joining AZ makes geographic sense, but NV? They might as well join Florida.

San Bernadino county is the biggest county in the country, it's bigger than a bunch of states on it's own. I can see how they'd get tired of shlepping 200+ miles to the county seat to get anything done.

They claim the county's been unwilling to help keep the city's troubled hospital open as a full-service medical center.

I was driving across the country a few years ago and stopped to get gas in Needles. The average price of gas was about $2.50 back then, in Needles it was $5.00 at both stations.
