OK that is very surprising- really

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 05:05:02 PM
Reich said he had delayed a formal endorsement because of "the pull of old friendships"

In other words, both Bill and Hillary have stopped giving him a reach-around ;)

coma 2008-04-18 05:08:01 PM
Obviously he is not part of the "Statesmen That Matter"

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 05:08:55 PM
Seems like the only Clinton staffer that stuck with Hillary is George Stephanopolous.

Blues_X [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 05:13:53 PM
I hadn't heard that Boren endorsed Obama.

Another one? Endorsements don't mean a whole lot, but that's got to be a psychological blow if nothing else.

BigKahuna 2008-04-18 05:29:58 PM
It may have something to do with the fact that he's so far left that he makes Stalin look like Ronald Reagan.

Reich is a smart MFer. His commentary on NPR's Marketplace is always brilliant, IMHO.

Reich doesn't speak for all of Munchkin Land. The Lollipop Guild is still uncommitted.

johnny_vegas [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 05:47:58 PM
This is no small matter. His endorsement could make short work of Hillary. I think a little battle is brewing. You have to look at this through a micro-scope, however.

Agreed, I love reading his articles.

/off to find his blog.

WTF? Reich used to date Hillary when she was at Wellesley? (Link)

Well, that's enough mental imagery for today.

Stephanopolous loved having Reich in the Cabinet as he was the only guy he could post up in pickup West Wing basketball games.

Reich looks like he fell off a charm bracelet. Interesting guy though.

If it helps him win the nomination, I'm for it.

I dont know if this comment makes you an azz**** who's funny or a funny guy who is also and azz****.

Either way, you made me laugh.

Reich has to be a superdelegate, right?

I'm feeling very stabby today. This made me smile. Especially the part about them dating, I did not know that. Thank you, Farkistan.

Really? I just hate his tone of voice. He always sounds like he is talking down to people and most things I have heard him talk about seem to have over simplified superficial views.

Maybe on NPR he is better.

Sir Vanderhoot 2008-04-18 06:34:02 PM
Honest question, I know that Obama has been getting a lot of big endorsements lately, but is that because Fark tends to just take a trend and run with it? Is Hillary getting endorsements that we don't know about, or has she run out of new supporters?

/gObama, etc

My opinion of him (personally, anyway) changed after having heard him on NPR. Recommend trying it.

Heh, I consistently hate his commentaries. Of all the commentators, he's the only one I always seem to disagree with. He always presents a very one-sided interpretation of the facts and his conclusions always reflect that. It's "regulation and government intervention to the rescue" every time.

Doesn't help that he also sounds like a smug SOB.

This just in:

In a stunning turn of events, Bill Clinton has just endorsed Barack Obama.

Asked why, the former president replied,"thats where the young tail is, uh... I mean he would be best for the country.

Indeed a smart mofo. I think we've known this was coming for a while. Even before Iowa, Reich was saying things like "the Obama health care proposal covers more people and cuts costs more effectively than the Clinton plan".

No, not a superdelegate. Nor, oddly are Nunn or Boren (Boren's son, Rep. Dan Boren, is, though, and hasn't yet committed), despite being very significant statesmen emeritus. Meanwhile, random doofus 19-year-old from Wisconsin and hella-obscure DNC nobodies from Nebraska are. Strange party. But, I do think these kind of endorsements help the (terminally undecided) superdelegates.

Wait....what?

He's the same guy who proposed the idea of federally funded "job centers" during Clinton's first term.

Just one tiny problem: the shrinking middle class. Unless we do something to reduce the deficit and deal with the minuscule growth in the economy, this argument over endorsements will be dwarfed by the problems we face. Midget.

Robert Reich was the only person involved with the Clinton administration that seemed to actually have integrity.
