Because 23.9% of the population belongs to a religion that actually cares about what the man with the biggest hat says?

There are other types of Christians than the bible-thumping southern ones, they just don't make the same kind of noise.

Well of course he's defending the UN, it'll be the Pope's organization to rule the world when he's unmasked as the Antichrist.

I wonder how ol' Shep Smith will react to this since he claimed in recent days that the Pope is honorary Republican because of his staunch pro-life positions.

/which, incidentally, includes the death penalty

Much of the crazy shiat people say about the Book of Revelation can't really be found in the text. It's mostly inference, assumption, and sometimes, outright fabrication. Don't get me wrong, it's a great work of art, but it's lousy as a holy text.

so now the pope also criticizes US policies. wow, bush is on a roll here...

hyperspacemonkey 2008-04-18 01:27:10 PM
Well, it is unfair that the US has not paid any of what it owes to the US...or is that complaint out of date? When has the US paid off its debt to the UN? Most American citizens think it has none.

Tehn, the US has used the Security Council and other leadership positions within the UN to push it's own agendas around the world, especially at the expense of developing countries and their citizens. One can expect countries to be predatory now and then in the UN, but the US has been amazing in ignoring the Declaration of Human Rights and other treaties.

That said, the US can do whatever it wants because the world's money is the in US. So effectively, the IMF and the WTO are US organizations as well. The US has the least to gain by diplomacy of any nation. What does the Pope expect? The usual rules simply do not apply to the USA (sometimes this is blatant, like with war crimes). Popey McB needs to change his approach if he wants to subvert American foreign policy. As if!

I never get why every believer thinks it'll happen in thir time. People have been thinking that since the idea foirst started years ago, and yet we're still here. Are people so self-important that they think it must happen in their own lifetime?

Well, if you want, we could ask the news to run that story on how when Obama farts, it sounds like 'I hate America.' Or we could do something with Britney Spears since she hasn't had any news time for a while. Ron paul maybe?

He is in charge of an unbelievably huge worldwide organization. It shouldn't be surprising that he gets news coverage. And the fact that he critized the US now will make Fox News go nuts with 24-hr 'Pope Watch' claiming how he hates our freedom.
