I am a huge fan of the E Street Band, and this hits hard.

Godspeed, Phantom. You will be missed :-(

I knew he'd been sick and was not touring. I love the E-Street channel on Sirius Radio and had won tickets to the show in Orlando Saturday. Looks like it's off now.

Really glad that I finally got around to seeing Bruce & The E Street Band last October in Philly. Helluva concert and Danny was a big part of that.

RIP Phantom

I was at this show. I never would have thought that I would see the last Danny Federici show ever.

On another note, because Danny showed up, the Indianapolis show was amazing...

Glad you took time off from your likely job of beating up nuns and pissing on orphans to post that.

Bummer... :(

When I saw this video posted a few weeks ago, I was optimistic that Danny was getting better. It's terribly sad that he passed.

I am, however, glad that he got a chance for one last performance with his brothers.

I'm fighting back the tears. Like rbaron71 I thought he was going to make it. Damn this sucks. Great guy, tremendously talented musician. He will be sorely missed.

I was never a huge Springsteen fan (don't worry, not a hater) but my college housemates were big fans, being guys from the Jersey Shore themselves, so I heard his first three albums a lot. And unlike a lot of albums you hear a lot, I grew to like them.

I can remember hearing the accordion on "4th of July" and thinking it was a nice touch, and I enjoyed his ability to add a piano section without being intrusive. Plus I came to regard the E Street Band as being one of those totally professional outfits, like Elvis Costello's Attractions, who always put on a good show.

But I never knew his name until today. That's a shame. So I intend to make up for it this evening and have a drink in his honor.

There's always one, isn't there?

Saw the band Monday night - Danny was missed. Patty too (but she's home with the teenagers).

Too be honest, Clarence was on minimal duty and didn't look too stellar.

That was really great, but damned sad. I don't think about Springsteen so much anymore -- my hardcore fandom was already wearing down by the end of the 70's, though I still paid attention and have liked stuff he's done quite a bit off and on through the years. Weird rollercoaster week though, as I had just been so excited to hear that an old friend of mine had gotten to play with him in Houston for a song or two, and then this unhappy news came along and brought things back down again.

Patti was never ever an integral part of the E-Street experience. She can't sing that well and adds a fourth guitar to the sound or a tambourine. That's IT. She's got a wailing voice that just isn't that good.

Patti just sounds good on devil's arcade and duet songs written by bruce for her voice.

When I saw 'em in concert in March, Clarence made me sad too. He's not be utilized.

Rip Phantom.

I could not disagree with this more. I quite like her voice, and her contribution to the band's live sound.

I'll have to dig out that Dr. Zoom bootleg now. Rest well Danny; you will be missed.

The only thing Patti brings to the table are terrible songs of her own.

I'm glad she's not around this tour

Some of you know, some of you can only imagine, some of you can't quite manage that...end of an era. Saw a couple of shows last week and the band will go on w/o him, but "so lonely".

God this is sad. What a talent, and he seemed like a great guy. From watching that video, I could feel the love.
