I didn't see HER wearing any flag pins.

Nor, for that matter, was Hillary.

Or Charlie Gibson or George Snuffalufagus, for that matter.

Or even John "Mr. Patriot" McCain in his recent Big Economic Speech.

wejash [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 12:19:56 AM
There's flag pin shortage. Caused by a strike at the Hangchow plant where 12-year kids make the damn things from scrape pieces of lead they find in trash we ship to them. They're striking for a second potty break in the 20-hour shift. The Wal-Mart contractor is bringing in Black Water strike breakers to bring the kiddies into line. Expect to see the flag pin market to be flooded again anyday now.

Maybe I'm missing something, but she thinks Hillary had a tougher upbringing than Obama? What kind of hard knocks did Hillary experience while growing up?

I'll admit a bit of ignorance towards Hillary. I assumed she came from a well off family.

I wish I had more to say, but this whole issue is all sorts of fail.

McCabe says that she once saw Obama on television and noticed that "he turned his back on the flag" before the Pledge of Allegiance ended. That irritated her to no end.

If she's refering to the picture that gets posted on fark a whole lot, then don't all the people have their backs to the flag. Just Obama is holding his hands while the rest all have their hands over their hearts.

Why do you have to put your hand over your heart? I don't. Haven't since I got out of the practice when I was in marching band and stood at attention.

Oh man, I'm not even American, so I have no idea what your supposed to be doing. I was just trying to be as neutral as possible.

But, for the record, since I live in the US and pay taxes here, my strong preference is for Obama. If it were not illegal for me to donate to his campaign, I would.

slobarnuts 2008-04-18 01:31:51 AM
But she sees a difference between the two. In Clinton, she sees someone who has struggled for years, just like her, and has earned the right to be president. In Obama, she sees someone who rose like a rocket, always has a smooth explanation for everything - whether it's about his former preacher or the flag pin - and who makes it all look too easy.

Heh.

Is she even aware that Hillary is of the Park Ridge Rodhams, that she's been loaded her entire life because her dad owned textiles? I mean, fark, her father's name was Hugh Ellsworth Rodham. H. Ellsworth Rodham, for Christ's sake! She was a Young Republican at Wellesley, fark.

House of Tards [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 02:06:04 AM
Yes, The woman who went to Wellesley, married a Rhodes Scholar, became FLOTUS and is now worth over $100 million is JUST LIKE YOU lady.

She struggles to decide whether to have a lobster bisque or a veal medallion while you struggle to feed your family.

She has to choose between her $5,000 yellow pantsuit and her $3,800 navy pantsuit while you hope your flannel shirt will last another year.

She can't choose which car she takes to work because the Secret Service doesn't give her any options while you can't choose which car t to take to work becuase you only have your 1982 Datsun b210.

My god, you're living parallel lives!

What, is this woman some kind of Marxist? Do our leaders really need to be members of the proletariat? And really, even the Marxists are morally superior to American voters - at least they didn't put on any pretensions about worshiping the alleged wisdom of the working class.

What a disgrace to American citizenship.

I'm surprised she's voting Democrat at all.

Showing concern over whether someone is wearing a flag pin to satisfy your own insecurity is truly retarded.

lolmao666: Have you noticed also that Bush doesn't say God bless America at the end of his speeches??????

Sorry but your leaders are GLOBALISTS which means that they want to get rid of the sovergnity of EVERY COUNTRY in the world, INCLUDING the USA.

For what? A world government with a world army. Yeah, that's exactly what Hitler would have done.

well you forget that...wait....what?

Because, as we know, black folks in America skate by. They never face discrimination and they are never judged solely by their appearance. White, upper middle class people who go to prep schools and Ivy League schools are where the discrimination and struggle really lie.

I think that Obama understands a LOT more than Hillary does.

sunshine_mcbihface [TotalFark] 2008-04-18 05:15:00 AM
Wow. She really is an idiot.

Has she done NO research whatsoever in the candidate she supports? Hillary Rodham Clinton is NOT -- I repeat -- NOT just like you, lady. She has absolutely no idea what it's like to be you, the struggles you've been up against...

This woman's main problem with Obama is that he makes things look easy? And that he doesn't participate in raving mad faux patriotism? Just because he doesn't put his hand over his heart, and doesn't wear a stupid flag pin that was probably made in China, it doesn't mean he doesn't love this country. What a moron.

Oh yeah, and lady? I seem to remember some old guy back in the day saying it's the duty of a citizen to question their gov't and the way things are. And if they farking suck, do something about it.

You're bitter. Let him try and help you.

/not a rabid Obama supporter.
//not a huge fan of any candidates, really.

Goodness it's interesting to see people continue to bash Hillary. Where were you people 15 years ago when we were trying to tell you the truth about Bill and Hillary? Oh wait, you were treating the Clinton's like you treat Obama in the here and now.

This woman would, under any other circumstance, be held up as a person whose opinion simply cannot be questioned because the system has screwed her and life in America for her has been less than wonderful. It's interesting to see Democrats perfectly prepared to throw a victim of society under the bus if said victim happens to support somebody other than Obama.

OneBrightMonkey 2008-04-18 05:54:31 AM
I'm only 28, so I hold out some hope that this country will grow up and transform itself into a nation of adults capable of rational discourse about serious topics.

It would be nice if this were to occur sometime before I die of liver failure brought on by having to drink in excess to soothe the psychic pain and existential anguish that are natural symptoms of living in an Idiocracy.

I'm not sure how we are going to get there as a nation, but I'm fairly certain that step one should be beheading Sean Hannity.

Remove all Republicans: whidbey: Showing concern over whether someone is wearing a flag pin to satisfy your own insecurity is truly retarded Republican.

THIS

Well, then, it shouldn't affect her chances in the Democratic PRIMARIES at all then, right?
'Cause, only Republicans like to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, or LIKE seeing the US flag,
or do anything other than stand still like a lump when the first is said or the second is raised.

Right?

And I don't buy into the whole meme of....
"Bhu, but, but, I show my respect and patriotism in OTHER, much BETTER ways instead!".

Little things and gestures still have big meaning.
You can claim you respect your Mom all you want, but if you roll your eyes every time
she speaks that "little thing" is somewhat telling about how much actual "respect" there is.
