This in no way is meant as a complaint but is Lenny Kaye a guest moderator today?

Why have a cheap copy when you can have the real thing?

Was that supposed to be the Chicago version (new window)? I think Steve Winwood wrote it.

He did. Although I prefer the Chicago version.

Yeah, it rocks. Looking into it, I found this on Wiki (new window)

A live version of the song appears on Steve Winwood's album Nine Lives, set to release on April 28, 2008

We'll get to hear what's he's done with it over the last 40 years.

I'm embarrassed to admit that until not too long ago I thought Steve Winwood was some flash-in-the-pan douchebag who had exactly one hit song and it was called 'higher love'. (I didn't really consider 'roll with it' a hit song even if it was...)

I also thought that Peter Gabriel only did Sledge Hammer and that other song that was popular around the same time - with the kooky video.

I feel better now, thank you for listening. or reading. or whatever.

Chicago's is great (Kath, FTW), but it is Winwood's song, that he wrote when he was 17 y/o, I think.

Have loved Winwood since first hearing him in the 70's. Stuck with him through the 80's synth-pop, and now see he has come full circle.

aaaaahh sweet sounds (new window)

Another few fine moments from the lad:

"Can't Find My Way Home" -- Blind Faith. A little raspy, but contemporary with its release; the studio version, though, is a thing of beauty and wonder.

"Dear Mr. Fantasy" -- Traffic

"John Barleycorn" -- also Traffic

Damn, never saw this before: got to be a rare live version of Gimme Some Lovin' on Finnish (??? -- not sure) TV. Bonus: It does not suck, either.
