I used to say the same thing about Dole after he dropped out of the race. Who knew the guy had a personality? His campaign advisers certainly never exposed it.

He just used up his personality quotient 'till 2012.

samimgreen 2008-04-17 01:13:08 PM
It really makes you wonder about the real personalities of these people. Our only representation is what others tell us and the less that is known about them, the less that can be told with veracity. It's almost as if the editors determines a lot of their personality.

Mitt Romney is about as sincere as Hillary.

Did you see the HBO documentary Nancy Pelosi's daughter did about Dubya's 2000 campaign? That was an eye-opener. Say what you want about the man as president, but he actually has a pretty energetic and entertaining personality.

Not bad. I'm sure he had help, but not bad. I chuckled.

Pocket Ninja [TotalFark] 2008-04-17 01:16:37 PM
He doesn't have a sense of humor. He's merely playing the "Ha Ha! Look at me! My ability to laugh at myself shows that I'm not at all bothered about being an utterly crushed politico" card, which is a time-honored tradition for people in his situation.

I thought that about Dole, too. Same with Gore.

Show more 'humanity', less 'stoicism' please.

Yeah, I guess it wasn't exactly original or anything, but I thought it was a good dig, and unlike at the debate, a humorous top ten list is a good place for that kind of thing.

No, I didn't. I don't HBO. :-) It does sound pretty likely, though. Logically a person in power got in power by making friends, not enemies.

He's still just a mechanical political flip-flop machine but I have to admit I LOL'd pretty hard. If he'd have been saying stuff like that when he was actually running we'd probably see him as more of a good guy but bad politician, ala Mike Huckabee.

Agree. In this list, he is making fun of himself as well as taking digs at Hillary. Makes it much more palatable.

He doesn't. Someone else wrote them for him and this is a good way for him to stay in the spotlight until 2012.

That's pretty funny. I think that if Romney wasn't a mormon, he'd be the GOP candidate for sure. The entire LDS thing is a tough pill to swallow...

TwilightZone 2008-04-17 05:14:25 PM
He has a sense of humor? Possibly. What he needs is a better joke writer. Not funny at all.

I couldn't believe it when, at my republican caucus, a woman stood up to stump for McCain and said that she prefered him over Romney because Romney is a mormon and that scared the crap out of her.

I chastised her ideas (not her) in my stump speech (for ron paul... muahahaha).

Haha, you were surprised when a republican based their decision on religion? Had you been under a rock the previous decade?

OK, I didn't post the original comment, and this is just why I thought it was funny.

The comment was effectively: Dear Pocket Ninja, You come off as a very small person.

Which is funny, because a ninja you can fit in your pocket is, inevitably, small. There is a dual meaning of the phrase "small person".

/They say that explaining a joke kills it.
//They are right.

Yes, I understood that part. But if that's all it was, I'm still not getting what he did there. Was that it? Seriously?

I so want to understand. I so want to not be a retard. Please enlighten me samingreen or (possibly) Tastes Like Chicken.
