I'm sure that after the election McCain will not only have "a shot" but probably a whole bottle.

Sir Vanderhoot 2008-04-16 06:49:45 PM
copied and pasted from the Hillary-takes-a-shot thread, but still relevant.

Pfft. Obama did cocaine. Now, if Hillary McCain gets drunk (slurring or better) that might get my attention. Actually, I'd think that that'd be a fantastic debate. Have a bank of reporters to fact-check, and every time a candidate gets called out on a lie, they have to do a shot. By the end, they'd just be slinging insults at each other or crying into the camera begging for votes.

"Would you care to join me for a shot?" McCain fumbled around for words and replied, "These are two of the toughest questions I've ever had,"
...?

""I will contest every vote of every young American," McCain told the crowd of thousands."

Says the politician who's older than Methuselah. I don't like any of the presidential candidates, but I definitely don't like McCain anymore. When Bush pulled all those dirty tricks against McC, he should have never worked alongside Bush anymore.

Honorable man, but I hope to never see McCain as president, or so help me I'll move up to Canada with all the Liberals who moved there when Bush became President...

I think that was the joke. Really though, the people that say that are too lazy to get out and even register to vote in the first place, let alone move to another country.

And not only that, his uncle, Mike Doocy is the local FOX 4 News Sports reporter in Dallas, TX.

It was related in some way to fox news. There for it was a vast right wing conspiracy.

Jesus, another thread is bemoaning the death of journalism (newspaper journalism, anyway) right now and right here is an example of why journalism is dying: because it covers things that aren't news. The kid asked McCain to do a shot - wow, that is awesome. In an election year, I can't imagine a more important story, unless the kid had asked McCain what kind of underwear he prefers. Or if the kid held up a picture of Britney Spears and asked McCain if he'd hit that.

Our local Fox affiliate (Dallas) ran a 2-minute story on this shiat this morning (because the kid in the story is the nephew of one of the anchors), and even though I was barely awake, I could recognize the complete fail. The only reason I watch news anymore is for the weather and traffic. The rest of it is shiat. They run so many stories about American Idol they may as well just fire everyone in the "newsroom" and have Ryan Seacrest phone it in via satellite. At least that would honest whoring.

Hrm, I just thought of something. Since Cheney made the big claim that the VP isn't part of the Executive branch, could that be used to try to allow Bush Jr. to run with McCain as VP?

McCain and Hillary did have a vodak drinking contest on a junket to Estonia a couple of years ago. Barry wasn't along for that trip (I guess Illinois state legislators didn't get invited).

The problem is not with the media, it's with the American people.

If MSNBC tried to run only "real" news stories, their ratings would plummet.

The Mcneil-lehrer News Hour is still on the air BTW (if only due to Government funding).

You know, just this last week I was thinking about the place of weather and traffic in the local news. Those two are the last things that need some yahoo spewing some ridiculous narrative. Weather and news can more efficiently be communicated with a big color-coded map and some animation. Almost no human or human-spewed crap is needed. I admit there are other local news issues where human-spewed crap is needed.

Staypuft_Mushmallow_Manz: So... what happens (and I know this sounds CRAZY) if McCain wins, and the economy does just fine, and the war ends? Where will all of the hate go?

Funny thing about hate, sometimes people need a reason to feel it. There are always going to be asshats that will spout partisan venom but that's a given from every direction. So, some of it will vanish and you'll be left with partisan hackery...

Now, mistrust is something that many feel. There's a lot of squandered good will that'll take a long time to rebuild. You're stating some big ifs that a lot of us aren't exactly confident will happen. Heck, I'm doubtful that either of those situations will happen with any of the candidates.

I had a lot more confidence in McCain before he started hanging out with the people that he was violently opposed to in the past. People can call it a necessary evil, but it doesn't change the fact that it makes him look like he'll cave if pressured to go against his beliefs. That just makes him look like a sock puppet.

So Fox "plants" someone who, instead of pitching a softball question to showcase some McCain talking point, makes McCain look flustered and at a loss for words. That's absolutely diabolical.

The sad thing is the question revolved around getting a drink after the show. Seriously, that was a hard question for him to get flustered over?

Now that's sad.

This was worthy of one of these 10 second time fillers that come at the end of a braodcast if they are running a little short. And ony from the guys who can say "my nephew/son made it on to TV".

At least he didn't ask Cheney. "Join me for a shot?"

BOOM!
