While I realize that your intellectually superior minds enjoy and thrive on condescending to the general public, your constant abuse of anything mainstream is misplaced.

Is anyone forcing you to watch this? Did your G4 marathon pong session get interrupted by a PSA that forced you to watch American Idol against your will? Or maybe you just think that by jumping on a bandwagon of people who publicly ridicule a show that they claim to never watch that you will rise above your peers and be able to look down on the rest of the world with impunity.

Not everyone is a genius, not everyone has their life handed to them at birth. Some people aren't a genius. But they are allowed to dream. The Constitution itself imbues upon us the right to pursue happiness, and if by taking a chance to get on a stage and endure the wrath of your mental superiority they just might have a shot at becoming something special, to make a better life for themselves and the people they know, then by all means you, as a fellow human being, should have the god damn decency to cheer them on, and wish them luck. One day you might have a kid, and when that little girl looks up at you and tells you that she saw something on TV and that now she has a dream, too, are you going to tell her just how stupid she is? If so, you should pat yourself on your back and remind yourself that hey, who cares about anyone else, at least you aren't a hypocrite.

I can't blame him from being out of tune a bit on the show. It's a nerve wracking thing to begin with, he probably is not a die-hard Mariah fan, plus his brother who is dying of brain cancer or something was in the audience...I'm pretty sure under those circumstances very few people could be in tune constantly. Even big time performers are not always in tune when they perform.

However, just downloaded the studio version, it was actually pretty good. He worked with what the producers gave him. For pete's sake, he's a rocker guy and they made him sing freakin' Mariah Carey.
