She's using Obama "clarification" defense.

mediaho 2008-04-15 07:45:43 PM
As for the AK-47 remark, Keys said Tuesday that AK-47 is a nickname given to her by friends "as an acronym for Alicia Keys and a metaphor for wowing people with my music and performances, 'killing 'em dead' on stage. The reference was in no way meant to have a literal, political or negative connotation."

The phrase is "knock 'em dead."

baka-san [TotalFark] 2008-04-15 08:02:51 PM
OK, let me get this straight, your claiming your nickname is the same as what is arguably the most influential gun of the past 100 years, and you were misquoted?

And just who the hell are you anyway?

Client No. 9 2008-04-15 08:24:20 PM
She back-peddles faster than "Dr." Phil. Oh, and her music sucks.

Elmer PhD 2008-04-15 09:00:42 PM
So for those keeping score, Bufu, BobtheFascist, mediaho, baka-san & Client No. 9 all suck.

The correct answer is provided by strangeguitar.

Thank you for playing.

I believe her. She's hot and talented, so she must be right.

yummmmmmmm

alicia keys = whiny, unoriginal pap, virtually unlistenable

also, black people came up with gangsta rap all by themselves
and they are happily killing each other
because they bought into the white man's bullshiit dream
of owning more crap than everybody else

and don't mind doing it on the broken backs of their brothers.

in this regard blacks and whites are equal

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2008-04-15 10:43:56 PM
But she still believes the whole Morrison/joplin/hendrix/brian jones staged murders was a coup by the government to squish the fire of the hippy movement

She's the one repeated belting out that grating "No One" song that is molesting the memory of R&B. She's also a hottie.

Halfmast Trousers [TotalFark] 2008-04-16 12:51:29 AM
So ... is she black, or part black, or Asian/black or asian/white/black or is it just the makeup or what?

Everyone probably already knows the answer, but I'm too lazy to Google it.

I still, thankfully, have no idea. Other than I know her name.

um...let's see, how could that nickname have been fashioned? Alicia Keys. Initials: A.K. Gee, what nickname could one possibly generate from that?

and..she didn't say the nickname was a misquote.

Hmmm... what else can we do? I'm sure we can think of something.

She had that one song, right, with two chords repeating over and over again. Got me wondering when the hell she was thinking about getting to the "and bad mistakes I've made a few" part.

Her lasting legacy will be that she was mentioned in a Dylan song.

That "Unplugged" album Lauren Hill made is one of the most batshiat crazy recordings of all time. Long, rambling stories between long, rambling songs with very questionable lyrical content. It's just the sound of someone losing their mind.

And as for Alicia Keys: I find her very frustrating, because it's obvious that there's real talent there, and she could be doing much better stuff than she is. But it's obvious that she's let Clive Davis and other recording industry sleazeballs tell her what she should and shouldn't do. She is, in the truest sense of the word, a sell-out. My guess is that these comments rise out of some sort of recognition of this and a guilt over it. But it's not racial at all -- she's just made the choice that many artists of every race have made, let the recording industry machine tell you what to do rather than figuring it out for yourself and risking obscurity.

I'd definately hit it, but her pooper is getting big.

Looks like she decided to be rich instead of a "revolutionary". I guess someone explained to her that you don't get to be BOTH, and she prefers her gold plated AK-47 necklace to the relatively cheap gunmetal of an actual assault rifle.

The equivalent of this would have been if Theo Huxtable came out for the black panthers, beret and all... during one of the "very special episodes" of the Cosby show.
