A show like that might raise a lot of money for the general election.

Why is this news? A lot of conservatives who aren't part of the crazy-religious-conservative sect are distancing themselves from Bush. If McCain himself didn't need the support of those conservatives, he likely would reject Bush's endorsement.

Hyuk, hyuk... thanks so much for your input, Toby. Although given your fellati-istic support of W these past 7+ years, I doubt if any of us were worried that you set the bar too high.

Yes, he has a right to think he's thinking, but he's paid to sing, not tell us what he thinks he thinks.

He constantly said that he was a registered Democrat through all of the mess with the Dixie Chicks, etc.

It makes his critics look even more stupid now.

He wasn't on board with the attack on Iraq pretty much from the get-go. He got wrongly labeled as a rightwing nutjob because he was supportive of kicking Osama's ass. He was never a neo-con.

Psh.. more like 'fark yourself in the ass, Toby.' We didn't give a shiat what your opinion was before 9/11... and listening to you mumble your way through the Bush Administration's version of "The Ballad of the Green Beret" didn't change that.

Obscurity waits for no man, Toby, and the music store bargain bin's calling your name.

Suicidal Writer 2008-04-15 07:23:33 PM
Toby Keith and his father are Democrats. He is a common Democrat. Liberals only make up 19% of registered voters, so their public recognition is overstated, and in the Democrat Party they aren't too influential. I don't know why so many Dems hit Toby. Amongst Oklahoma Democrats his sentiments are common.

I have my own issue with Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks; she is vocally anti-marijuana. The fued with Toby was stupid, but the Dixie Chicks were right.

By the way, Toby Keith has a song called "Walk it Off" damn it's good.

Walk it off
Pick up all the pieces of your broken heart
You don't have to worry
She don't care anymore
She ain't there anymore
Hit the wall
'Cause no one you can call is gonna ease your pain
So take your torn umbrella out into the rain
Walk it off

Run
Boy you were born to run
Now the day has come
She's left you standin' still
So deal
How does it feel
To have to face the fact
She ain't coming back
Walk it off
(repeat)

Walk it off
Though you might not ever see her face again
Sittin' here alone just scares you half to death
Boy don't hold your breath

Walk it off

Otter Stupidity 2008-04-15 07:33:59 PM
Couple of things here:

1)Toby Keith likes what he's TOLD to like. i.e., boots in asses, W, Ford trucks, blah blah, it's whatever winds up making him and his label the most money in the end
2)I was suckered into working at country radio for 2 years. (Loooong Story.) Know what? That whole industry is one scary, money-makin' machine. AND they know it!
3)Please, never, ever, ever, never, ever again post TK lyrics. Are you high?

The end.

I'd like to say that as a conservative republican Bush hater and lover of all things rock, I think Toby Kieth is pretty damn awesome. He's an excellent songwriter and has a hell of a voice. Not that I particularly care about country or bumpkin rock. But I'm giving credit where credit is due.

No, he's an opportunistic slimebag.

He's merely trying to keep his career going by backpedaling away from his mindless jingoism.

If you've been here long enough to learn the "obscure?" cliche, you've been here long enough to know that something like "Family Guy" is no where near obscure.

I saw him live when I was younger, and I agree his earlier stuff was better. I always thought "I Wish I Didn't Know Now" was one of his best songs.

/yeah, I listen to country make fun if you want.

I'd love to shove a boot up Toby Keith's ass. I can't stand it whenever I'm forced to listen to country music. But whenever his or Alan Jackson's uber-patriotic songs come on, I want to rip my ears from my head.

JFP's Gym Partner took care of it, but I have to chime in. What in the name of FSM would make you think Family Guy is obscure? Millions of people watch it and it plays about 15 times a day on various TV channels. Obscure = not many people may know what you're talking about. Family Guy has never been obscure.

On the topic at hand, I know nothing about Toby Keith and prefer to keep it that way.

/Yes, there is a little sand in my vagina. Wanna fight about it?

Anyone who likes Toby Keith remind of the same assholes who liked Lee Greenwood's suckhole song back in 1981 "God Bless The USA"...

Total garbage - it's tripe, but good enough for Jethro the Inbred Redneck buy it, anything to make a buck, just like Toby, right?

ALL country singers are whores, have been since the early 80's, look at Willie Nelson's acting interpretation of a singer who custom makes a song for a made-up war (sound familiar?) in "Wag The Dog."

That charecter was dead-on - country music is manufactured syrupy harmless pap for the mindless masses to make themselves feel good as their ever-growing shadowy government farks them over.

He also hawked Ford products for a while, too, didn't he, huh?

Look where all that whoring has gotten Ford...

They have to resort to having American Idol selling their shiit, and look where it's gotten THEM as well.

That show has about as much credibility as the boil I lanced off my dog's ass last week.
