not a huge rap fan

but Noel, you truly are a tnuc (backwards, that is)

J. Frank Parnell 2008-04-15 12:21:18 PM
I'm not a fan of either, but here's hoping that Noel gets drunk and says something stupid to Jay-Z.

TedAlsoRises 2008-04-15 12:37:16 PM
Actually it won't be Noel, it will be Liam who will get drunk and try to start a fight, but nobody in Jay-Z's crew will understand a bloody thing coming out of his mouth. Liam will get frustrated and doing rash which will eventually turn into a fark headline. So in that case everybody wins.

Way for Oasis to remind everyone just how relevant they are. Wankers.

No band that writes the same slow-tempo, tambourine-infused shlock over and over can be considered relevant.

They should try to get Muse again. Methinks they'd be a HELL of a lot more well-received than Jay-Z.

Brendan-face - when was the last time you wrote six consecutive #1 albums?

I'm waiting for Oasis to release their diss track

Jay Z had six #1 albums?

As in, people paid for them and they sold the most?

Wow.

You'd have thought I'd heard something from at least ONE of them in my lifetime.

I guess being #1 aint what it used to be.

MikoSquiz 2008-04-15 04:57:06 PM
I see his point - Jay-Z headlining Glastonbury is at least as weird as Oasis headlining.. uh.. a hip-hop festival? (Can't name any offhand)

On the other hand, Oasis suck fetid donkey balls and the Gallaghers are a prize pair of stupid coonts, so I'm gonna go ahead and say Jay-Z headlining Glasto is just fine with me.

1994 headliners were Orbital. Glastonbury is not rock festival

That reminds me of this awesome scene from "The Limey" (not safe for work language - link pops).

davynelson: Jay Z had six #1 albums?

10, actually. He just tied Elvis for the most #1's, I think only The Beatles are ahead of him now.

As in, people paid for them and they sold the most?

Oooh, he card reads good!

Wow.

You said it brudda.

You'd have thought I'd heard something from at least ONE of them in my lifetime.

Maybe you're really lame?

I guess being #1 aint what it used to be.

How would you know?

AgentOrangeDrink: How would you know?

I've listened to Jay-Z. The fact that he's had so many #1 albums says how BAD today's pop-culture taste in music actually is.

It's not about rap/hip hop, it's about most POPULAR rap/hip hop. Some people who have been popular (Tupac) actually had a bit of talent, they could write deep lyrics AND carry a beat... Jay-Z doesn't.
"Hard Knock Life" was one of the worst popular songs in the history of radio. Do you realize that? Do you realize what that says about Jay-Z, your taste in music, and the culture we are in now? All suck, that's what it says.

puffy999 [TotalFark] 2008-04-15 07:50:05 PM
Oh, and I'm sure you're going to tell us how awesome Britney Spears is, because she had SEVEN #1 songs. Please, spare us.

What are you whining about? How many people did you have to knock down to be able to post that?

Seconded. Hard.

Will never be able to go, but the youtube replays will be all i need to see.

He's completely right. Jay-Z sucks donkey balls. If you think he's a good rapper you probably think MTV is 'edgy'

Well in defense of Jigga (I too don't like him), he was very talented when he FIRST came out (despite him biting Biggie and Raekwon's styles). Sure he sold out really quick, but he is a very smart business man.

Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint are 2 of the best hip hop albums of all time.. He has some shiat too, but that counts for something

Just because you know very little about hip hop doesn't mean Jay-Z isn't talented. Among the rap community he's considered one of the best if not the best who's ever done it. Tupac is good too, but you know he's dead, right? Jay's the best rapper ALIVE.

Amusing that he claims Jay-Z has no talent by citing a shiatty song made for radio and mtv, but then claims Tupac has deep lyrics.. If I candy pick my Tupac songs I am sure you won't find the lyrics particularly deep in all of them (hit'em up comes to mind)

Jay is definitely not the best rapper alive, how can you even say that? KRS-1, the various members of Wu (except ODB obviously), Mos Def, Common, and Rakim are all still alive and they all (imo) are better than Jay. Jay wouldn't even be around if it wasn't for some of those guys. I always thought Jay was overrated, not saying he sucks, but he isn't as good as some try and give him credit for.
