A shame. Lots of music out there to be enjoyed both old and new, and I'm just a casual fan. Nothing more annoying than a Jazz snob, though.

Well I'm sure many Jazz fans are just as guilty of saying things like that. I've heard many pretentious jazz fans talk shiat about hip-hop without even realizing just how many different forms hip-hop takes. I can never rip on a whole genre, it makes no sense, since most genres have so many subgenres that all sound very different. A conscious, political, or lyrical HIP-HOP fan is very different than a pop, gangsta, or RnB RAP fan.

/I personally don't even consider this newer pop-rap to even be hip-hop, since it's devoid of the culture, message, and rhyming/writing skills.
