Agreed. It's just a steel tube with a handle on it, people.

I have yet to commit a murder with my guns, subtard. Although if I were in your company for too long, I could see myself getting an itchy trigger finger.

This only works if guns are traceable, something that the NRA considers gun control.

Now, personally, I'm fine with tracing guns, but something tells me that this won't get far when the NRA hears about it.

I'm fine with tracing guns. I use my crossbow to kill people.

Who told you that guns are untraceable? And what asylum were they calling from?

I could murder a guy with a hundred things at a walmart, should they stop selling those too?

queezyweezel 2008-04-15 12:42:22 AM
How many bolt action hunting rifles (the majority of guns sold at walmart) are used in crimes? Barely any. This is such a non issue it's not even funny.

I'm still fascinated by people who think we can just make guns go away. Poof, no more guns! Weeeeeeeee! Now I'll go wander through Compton! Pfft. Pfft I say.

I thought it was funny when they had the manager escort me out of the store after buying a .22lr rifle.

Generally, those things have some other use--they aren't made exclusively for the purpose of killing people.

Yeah, that reminds me of the last time I purchased a long gun. I guess that serial number on the gun that they wrote down next to my name and social security number was just for.......something besides tracking, right? They sent that to the feds for warranty purposes, right?

*facepalm*

They should use this type of headline regarding cigarettes: "State government to raise cigarette taxes in an effort to get people to quit, because outlawing smokes instead makes too much sense".

You're doing it right, just like me and millions of other law-abiding gun owners.

- 1 for Subby acting like a gun control weenie.

I dont goto walmart to shop often but now I'll never set foot in there again.

I wasn't a fan of their RFID policies and I definitely dont like this!

jjorsett 2008-04-15 12:46:45 AM

Every gun dealer in the US is required to record the buyer and the serial number of all firearms sold. If your friend happened to take a shot at somebody and dropped that rifle, the cops would be at his door in short order. That's assuming he acquired it thru legal channels.

I wouldn't mind being videotaped buying a gun at Wal Mart. Who cares? I also get videotaped when buying a Coke and a Slim Jim at the convenience store, and I don't worry about that. I get videotaped every time I go to my bank or the post office, or even the drug store, and I don't worry about that. So why is this significant?

Fubini: I know a certain president who would disagree with you.

Really? Compare the number of murders/crimes committed with bolt action rifles to the number of murders/crimes committed with handguns and get back to me.
I think even the late JFK would agree with me.

I'd be willing to bet that more people are killed annually by auto-erotic asphyxiation than by hunting rifles.

I've heard that there are enough guns in the US to give each man, woman, and child their own firearm. This tells us two things. First, there are at least 300 million guns in the US. Second, if not for guns, our population would be at LEAST 600 million, since guns are all murder weapons. Heck, maybe each gun has killed on average three people and we'd otherwise have the same population as China! That's a crazy thought. I just want to know where all of the bodies are so I can avoid the smell.

/Or does that explain Detroit?

Punkindrublic:

Yup, guns are pretty stable, especially if stored at low humidities.

The thing to do would be to limit production and distribution of ammunition, which does have a lesser shelf life.
