I had lunch with Fats last November in NY and was at his B-day party in N.O. last February. He is a very kind man!

How did you swing that? That's pretty cool. How's his health, anyway? And why is voting enabled?

I've love listening to Fats. Once gave a 10 minute chewing out to some music major who didn't have a clue who he was.

Is that Steve Martin and D12?

I believe that the correct term is "Big-Boned Domino."

/"Of-Larger-Carriage Domino"?
//"Husky Domino"?
///"Go Be Fats Somewhere Else Domino"?

When I was a kid, sometimes our school bus passed his house in the Ninth Ward in New Orleans. Whenever he was on the porch he'd wave to us and we would wave back. It was a great thrill. The Fat Man rules. Katrina took away his home (and my old school). Ah well.

White people can clap in rhythm... anyone can. Heck, when on a bridge that sways, people can start to walk in rhythm.

White people just can't DANCE like other races. Of course, some of the "dancing" people pull off isn't really dancing.

After living in New Orleans for almost 9 years, I can tell you that there is no sadder thing in the world than watching a bunch of pasty white tourists in shorts trying to second line.

Actually, to their credit, the white folks ARE clapping to the right beats. They might be dragging a little, but they're clapping on the 2 and 4 like they're supposed to.

Now if they clapped on the 1 and 3...that's facepalm time.

I used to like the Cheap Trick cover better than the
original.

I learned though. Cheap Trick are good, but Fats is the master.

I came for the Cheap Trick reference, and I was not disappointed.

I wish I'd caught a show of his in NOLA a few years back when I was there for New Years. Alas, I threw away all my money on hand grenades and The Hustler Club.

/Chubby Checker, you clever bastard.

Never saw anything that compares to a Fats Domino show.
Doesn't matter how young or old, the whole place is gettin' down.

Hope you're feeling better Fats!
