That song is a classic, brings back good memories of watching the spaghetti westerns as a child.

Apologies to IrateShadow who linked this on a TFD last night.

Sometimes you just know it will go green.

Ennio Morricone is hands-down my favorite movie composer. This clip just illustrates why.

Party Rock !!!

I read that headline as 'Emo Hurricane'.

Which I think is a great name for a punk rock band.

In Italy.

Ennio Morricone really adds purpose to your life when you plug him into your .mp3 player as the soundtrack to your mundane existence.

Absolutely. Evetything I've heard from him is great.

Metallica eats dogs**t now, but MAN, when they used "Ecstacy of Gold" to open their shows back in the day... goosebumps.

Still do use it as far as I know.

That and they always play, "It's a Long Way to the Top if you Wanna Rock'n'Roll" before EoG comes on and the lights go out.

That melody is fuggin' gold. Morricone is a maestro.

Look at the size of thet orchestra. Imagine the sound live.

How can anyone wave that stick without what must be an enormous hard-on getting in the way.

What is she singing in the lyrics? Is she mumbling or something? I can't make out the words.

(More seriously, how to they teach the chorus how to sing this?)

I love this song and others on The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, what are some other good ones by him?

imfarkingawesome,
the soundtrack to Once Upon A Time In The West is excellent too. Harmonica's Theme and the other main one (can't remember the name, but the one that accompanies claudia what's-her-name in the film) are both brilliant.

Six words:

Once Upon a Time in America.

The musical pocket watch pieces from For a Few Dollars More also kicked major arse. Great way to help build up the tension.

MadSkillz 2008-04-14 08:34:03 PM
Yeah Ken, those were great, but "Ecstacy of Gold" is my favourite piece of Morricone... I love The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and the panning shot done during the scene with this music seems SO modern compared to movies of the day.

Basil Pouledaris is another incredible composer... "Conan the Barbarian" is a B-Movie at best, but has an incredible soundtrack.

I will stand by my opinion that Conan is the best fantasy movie ever made.

"A Fistful of Dynamite" has a nice Christmas feel to it. Gabriel's Oboe is another really nice track. There is a piece on The G,B, & U that isn't on the American film version called "The Strong" which is really a cool piece of music.

The Mission, a movie starting DeNiro, is a pretty damn fine score.
