Damn. That's a blast from the past. My 1st guitar teacher was a huge Blackmore fan so naturally I learned a lot of Rainbow & Deep Purple. WOuld've helped if I had actually heard the stuff.

Anyway, thanks Smitter.

Since we're talking about the post-mark2 line-up. Coverdale and Hughes had did some great stuff with both Blackmore and Bolin. But Bolin only had one album to prove himself.

Blackmore: Batshiat crazy and full of himself but a great player none-the-less. Happy b-day to him!

What is the name of that band he is in now?

The one with the chick.

They do a kinda renaissance type thing.

Pussy Whipped Elf?
Minstrel Cramps?

You just know the vast amount of folks Blackmore has pissed off over the last four decades are now laughing at his lame ass.

He can take solace in the fact that he's still better than Ronnie James Dio.

Probably THE influence on my playing back in the day (my lawn...you know the drill...). Fast, innovative (doing classical riffs long before Yngwie, et al), and a tone to die for. The basic Stat + Marshall turned up to ear-bleeding levels tone just pisses on the modern "high gain overdrive" wall o' sludge heavy guitar tones.

And bat shiat crazy. What more could you ask for!

Side note: I'm about ten songs into my current solo music project...and not a single guitar track on any of 'em. If you'd have told me that back in the day, I'd have taken a swing at you. Probably missed, mind you, since I'd most likely have been slobbering stoned. But I'd have been outraged, nevertheless.

/sigh

Is Dio pussy whipped too?

As corny and silly as Dio's shtick may be he is a total pro and I have heard a pretty nice guy.
I also heard that the recent Sabbath-Dio tour was quite superb.

Dio has remained a pro all these years and stuck to his guns much to the delight of his many fans. He must have stayed off the bottle and the drugs because he is a helluva a lot better than the babbling drooling wreck that is Osbourne. (he is in better shape NOW I mean--I will NEVER slander classic Sabbath)

I don't mean to slander Blackmore either.
I just have read on many MANY occasions that he has stabbed a lot of backs since the 60s and has quite a great deal of enemies.

He is a breathtaking musician.

I very often make fun of icons who I actually adore.

I am an asshole that way.

.....also,Dio has ALWAYS looked/dressed like an elf.

Blackmore is only now doing it for that hot young D&D looking b*tch.

Really, that and the fact that he is 5' 1". I respect that since another shorty is the amazing Iggy Pop.

I would dress like a garden gnome too to hit on that "biatch".

/she seems to be a fine lady imo
//and as for Blackmore's attitude, Mile Davis had one too

And there's your obligatory "so and so can't touch [insert name here]" comment; a staple of all music threads. Farking elitists...

Never quite liked his style... don't know why. There were a few songs though. I had to be really, really, really young when I heard My Woman From Tokyo.... funny I think I started having a thing for women from this part of the world, guess I can blame that song a little for it. Remember liking some of the bass players stuff on that album, Machine Head I think it was. Anyways happy B-Day there Ritchie
