Years ago I sat on the steps of Independence Hall around 3am, rolled one up, and smoked it. Try that post-9/11 and see what happens.

Wait, there's a US Park police?

I'll wait for some decent video. There's no way to know wtf the girl did.

/probly the police's fault still

They quietly danced with headphones on?

They were probably arrested for looking stupid.

Dear J.D. Talley,

Stay off my lawn.

Love,

The Park cops were just enforcing an RIAA order against using their music products for a performance.

Bullshiat. Not if your offense is dancing and there is nothing else going on. At that point you have a duty to ask questions, and probably even a duty to get arrested.

That said, I think irockalot makes a lot of sense.

This is a silly thing for the police to do.

A wall is eerie? Do you maybe mean the Korean War Memorial?

I agree. Apparently six or so were dancing, but one got carted off.

"Yes sir" and "no sir" get you a lot further than "Fark you pig".

Probably gave the cop a lesson in the finer points of constitutional law.

FTFA: "It's 4:49AM and I'm at home uploading video and blogging as one of my friends is in jail"

Jefferson was a douche anyways who would never have us leavee out farms, Adams FTW.

The wrong people and ideas govern us and we need to change the direction we're heading in. Not by electing different politicians but by electing to take charge of our own lives and removing a government that controls us to the point where we can't dance to celebrate...

Hmmm, sounds very much like he's advocating open rebellion / revolution to me. He'd better be careful about making statements like that, least he find himself in one of those cages at Guantanamo.

It was after 11pm. Parks are closed after 11, in my experience.

Any parks police I've dealt with are firm, but polite about the closing time.

FTFB: "Unfortunately I wasn't near the "Jefferson 1" so I can't tell you what she did or didn't do but she was hauled away, handcuffed, in a police van and charged with disorderly conduct."

So basically, you have no idea if she deserved to be arrested, you're just assuming she didn't. lol. I'm waiting on the rest of the story, but it seems a bit fishy at this point.

I know that's the way to avoid getting in trouble, but this kind of attitude really irks me. Just because a police officer tells you to do something, if they have no legal authority to do so then you should not have to do it. The unfortunate problem is that it doesn't really matter, even if you weren't doing anything wrong and the police had no authority to harass or detain you, they can quickly come up with something.

You are already cowed, thank you and the others like you who have allowed our country to be taken from us. Now why did I bother to defend our country if you can be hauled off for just being in a public place?

On that note, drunken monument tours in DC are...AWESOME!

Now that I think about it, we're missing a key connection.

Yesterday evening there was a Washington, DC fark party.

That night/early the next morning this happens.

Then it gets green lighted and linked to some crappy blog.

Coincidence? I think not.

Huh? They do have the legal authority. Failure to obey a lawful order or something like that. It happens all the time

It was after 11pm. Parks are closed after 11, in my experience.

From the nps.gov Web site:

The public may visit the park 24 hours a day. However Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm daily.

Exactly, I've seen the park police in action many times and as their job is pretty much 90% cutomer service they are usually very cool. More than likely this person was told the monument was closed and asked to move along. Then she decided to get stupid.

This might make a great remake of that classic.
