It may be a "refreshing change", but that doesn't change the fact that slim girls are more attractive than fat girls. The sooner people get over the whole hyperbole the better.

Looks like Cameron Diaz ala The Mask. I know she had some prsthetic breast enhancement in that, but even w/o them, she's drop dead gorgeous w/ a little meat on her.

I'd drop a few Vida Guerra's myself but I'm feeling lazy.

If only there were women somewhere who weren't as skinny as fashion models. Unfortunately we never see them anywhere.

Except for in the human race. And all around us.

Nope. They are way below a lot of Farkers' standards. Most of them will not deign to stick it in anything that weighs more than a Fleshlight.

You mean average women who read fashion magazines don't like comparing themselves to ultra-skinny models and might actually be more likely to buy them if more normal sized models were used?

floggeriffic 2008-04-13 06:43:47 AM
So when do we get to the part where everyone is ok with their body image and the photoshopping is only used for lazy eyes, zits, and people with one short leg?

Ok look, the girls in the photos you posted are maaaaybe a little overweight 10 or 15lbs at most. There are a lot of girls out there who are 40lbs overweight and in denial, they want to pretend that they are a bit "plus sized" when in reality they q43 gut-over-the-waistband fat.

DeRosso: That hip bone FTA actually looks to me like the muscle that becomes visible if you work out a lot - her 'new' stomach is flatter

That's kinda what I was thinking. She looked about the same size to me, just not as athletic. Someone whose really bony has bones potruding further down than that. That looked like muscle.

Really, I could give a shiat that the fashion industry has tall and skinny models. The thing I personally don't like is that it apparently translates into the clothes in the actual store.
Most girls are NOT 5'10+ and a size 0. I'm shorter than average, but I don't know many women that tall, and most of the ones that are aren't that skinny.
The other day when I was looking for jeans there was a whole rack of nice looking ones only they were WAY too long. The legs, were LONGER than my husband's jeans, and he's 6'2. They were marked as average. The ones that were marked as "short" were not even an inch shorter than his jeans, and he wears them kinda long. WTF?

Ihaveanevilparrot 2008-04-13 07:17:16 AM
Oh and you'd think they'd learn by the fact that there's always whole racks of jeans for really tall skinny chicks on clearance. Wouldn't you wanna order in stuff you're actually gonna sell?

Oh well, I guess that's a score for tall and skinny chicks. I have a friend that's around 5'8', wears a 0-5 depending on brand, and she never has trouble finding pants on clearance, lol.

anyway

"Plus sized"? Alright, I'm sorry. I don't use the internet much, but am I missing some kind of inside joke? The first two pictures you posted being referred to as "plus sized"? I seriously feel like I'm the odd man out in a joke.

The third pic is a little biatchubby, but that's about it.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this (pointy elbows!) but I've never really found runway models to be attractive at all. They disgust me in fact. They've pretty much starved away everything that makes a woman attractive to me, nice rack, curvy hips, nice round ass, and the general "softness" that I love about women.

Does anyone find this attractive:

I don't think you have a lot of experience with women's sizes or weights. If those women are models -- say 5'9" -- they're going to weigh a lot more than normal-sized women (around 5'6ish). Also a quick google indicated fashion models max out around 125 lbs. So for a fashion model, size 0, you're looking at more probably down around 105ish. The middle photo in the posted series was probably a size 10, which is *still* smaller than average. The other two were, I imagine, maybe size 14 depending on height, but in the real world, that isn't plus sized. That's normal woman size. But the fact is, given probable taller height, yeah, they probably do weigh more than 10 lbs over ideal. I'd bet up to 30-40 over some random "ideal." But yeah, the normal average in America is higher than that. Their abs look like they're firm -- properly supporting their insides, not as likely to have back problems, not six-packs -- enough that they have higher-than-average muscle mass, which means they're going to weigh more.

Back to the article, though, adding some smoothness to a photo isn't really going to change much about body image, other than actually airbrushing the extreme definition of hip bones/abdominal tendons or whatever. The fact is very slim people are used as models precisely because clothes are designed in more of a two-dimensional perspective and we wouldn't want any superfluous musculature or adipose to get in the way. Start out with a human hangar, and then blow-dry/visually "steam out" any unwanted fabric weight wrinkles.

It's still all about the clothes design. They're not advocating that the clothes themselves get bigger, or how fashion should take human variation into account. (30 inch inseam. Most averages are 31, most petites are around 28ish. Lee Petites in one cut finally works, so I bought four pair. And, of course, there's the ubiquitous FAT LADY pants.)

Here's the deal: runway models are not hired to look attractive to men. They are hired to make the clothes look good, and as some supermodel once remarked, clothes really look best on a hanger. So it makes sense to hire women who replicate the hanger look. I wish women would realize that and say a big f*ck you to what designers say about women's bodies.

I'm too busy saying "fark you" because they stick to one set of proportions, and regardless of my weight fluctuations, I can never find clothes that fit "off the rack".

You can have all the slim girls that lack a waist, hips and ass all day long. I'll take a woman that has some extra pounds on her anyday of the week over some slim girl.

I need one of them stickers that says NO SKINNY CHICKS!!! cause them girls are nasty and having sex with them is even nastier. Hitting bone is just not fun at all. Real men like real women that have some cushion to slam into.

I don't want any pics in my fashion magazines to be doctored, but since they are...I take my fashion cues from real women I see, oh and my mother and sisters too. Sometimes a chubby wubby is sporting great duds, other times it's a dude or skinny chic. The best thing for me to do is not buy the shiatty mags in the first place.

/it save lots of $

It is amazing to me how many guys do not know anything about normal as in relation to women, but kudos to you farkers who say you like us "real" women. Average US womans height 5'4" weight 165 lbs Size 14-18 (plus size by many store standards)
- insert my rant-I think as a woman it sucks to have to sort through several racks of clothing to find one or two pieces that may fit in a rack of things marked my size. Dresses and jeans are so hard to find that I almost gave up on it. They make clothes as if all of us (women) are built exactly the same. The new trend of trying to get women to wear more square cut pants is just wrong. Seriously most women aren't a box. Those that are have no curves and look like a small boy.-end of rant-
/no pics of Monique or any of her Phat Girls?? Disappointing
