Exactly. But the Morrisette lyrics are also perfect for the headline. Ironic?

An Italian woman artist who was hitch-hiking to the Middle East dressed as a bride to promote world peace better understanding of the mentally ill.

This lady needed a good psych doc and some meds. Wow. Did she not realize that women in most of the world are considered mere slaves and baby-makers? Way to taunt fate.

When I first read the headline I thought it meant she was found mudered inside an actual Turkey. Thats what happens when you name your country after a bird, I guess.

She had said she wanted to show that she could put her trust in the kindness of local people.

She should have trusted to Machiavelli. Might have saved her life.

She was the victim of a random crime that could have happened anywhere in the world. And I wouldn't say that generalization is true in Turkey, especially around the Istanbul area where this woman was robbed and murdered.

HOW many women have we seen or heard that pull this same shiat? How many times have our girlfriend's friends, or coworkers gone about stupid metaphysical crap like "trusting people" or "world peace". How often have these people used their bogus metaphysical ideas as excuses to get out of physical tasks. "I can't do this, my aura isn't right for it today" or "You're not a very spiritually peaceful person if you won't take me to the mall today."

I bet you for years this woman has used her metaphysical delusions as an excuse to not address physical reality, its so satisfying to see reality bite back.

"Dumbass" tag seen shaking his head in the corner by the door.

Did the guy or did he NOT have a flower sticking out of his gun barrel?

It is sad that she got killed, but I wouldn't make any sort of judgment on the Turks as people on the actions of one guy. People get killed by drifters all the time in the USA.

I've been to Turkey a number of times for business and vacation and I have always found the people to be nice, hospitable, and civilized.

If the rest of the Islamic world was like Turkey, I doubt we would have much of a problem with a war on terror.

My only minor beef with their country is that they slap a big adhesive sticker on your passport that has a islamic star and crescent so they kinda doubled my 'hassle time' while going through customs in certain countries.

Even idealists should carry a gun. In the best case, it won't be needed. In the worst, well ...

"I can't do this, my aura isn't right for it today" or "You're not a very spiritually peaceful person if you won't take me to the mall today."

I can honestly say that I have never said anything like that. Maybe something like "i'm too tired to do this today", but nothing like that. I've never even heard of people saying things like that. I guess girls are weirder than I thought.

I bet you for years this woman has used her metaphysical delusions as an excuse to not address physical reality, its so satisfying to see reality bite back.

She wanted to try to prove something to the world and she was wrong. Maybe she wouldn't have done it if she had people around to talk sense into her.

True. Especially since he's kind of a 'home boy' for her.

FriarTuck: My only minor beef with their country is that they slap a big adhesive sticker on your passport

You can request that they staple it in.

I was fully expecting that this happened in the eastern region and surprised that it happened so close to Istanbul.

"Her travels were for an artistic performance and to give a message of peace and of trust, but not everyone deserves trust," another sister, Maria, told the Italian news agency, Ansa.

In other news, common sense is not a genetically inherited trait.

"Oh, the poor wretch! It's a faulty gun; He's accidently shot me five times. Oh, how I love him!"

/obscure?

Way to run with a hunch, and be satisfied that someone was murdered because of the hunch. Really. Good one.

You're most welcome. Just don't take this as a sign that you should don a wedding dress and hitch hike around Pennsylvania.
