Asked about it today, Sen. Barack Obama obeyed a cardinal rule of politics: Don't kick your opponent when they're already kicking themselves.

Really? When did that become a cardinal rule in politics?

Since when are there any cardinal rules in politics anways?

I'm just wondering if he'll endorse Obama. Epic lulz would ensue.

I'd love to have heard the conversation Hillary had with Bill after that lovely sound bite was provided... "when they're over 60, they might forget too".

I wonder if he really is trying to sink her campaign. Maybe Bill doesn't want back into the White House.

I HAVE A THEORY
(interested silence)

The Clintons have come to terms with the impending loss. The are now trying to elevate Barack by losing harder (see Penn.) and by market testing arguments and points of debate (see her telling the pres. to boycott olympic opening ceremony).

It's an optimistic theory theory, but a theory nonetheless.

Just me or did Bill look pretty shiaty when the camera was up close?

Maybe he wasn't wearing makeup.

TV lights have a way of making one look bad without makeup.

Dude, wasn't your name hillary4real (or something like that) a short while back?

You need to come to terms with the fact the biatch ain't returning from the hole her lying mouth dug her into.

/Slashies say "honesty and integrety (sic)" shouldn't be used as adjectives when describing the Clintons, EVAR!

Does anyone else get the feeling that Bill doesn't really want Hillary to win? She seems like the bossy and naggy type, and that would just be so much worse if she got the ego boost of being president.

Why is anyone surprised by any of this? This is typical Clinton behavior. He just got a pass for it before Obama came along.

Munchausen's Proxy 2008-04-12 12:36:53 PM
I heard a theory on this that sounds very plausible. Bill is trying to tank Hillary's campaign. He has nothing to gain. Now, he is foot loose and fancy free. He flies all over the planet making huge jack, banging waitresses by the threes. He would not be able to do any of that if first husband. Additionally, Hillary would certainly be willing to spend their entire fortune to win the general election. So, Bill would be out of women, out of money and would not be able to get either one until Hillary is out of office.

Stepqhen: Obama is a lawyer, he has learned that when you are wining the point before you even speak, you keep your fool mouth shut.

Right. When you're up by less than a touchdown, and there's a couple seconds left on the clock, you take a knee... you don't run a play. The potential disaster far outweighs the negligible benefits.

There is one:

Win at any cost

Bacontastesgood 2008-04-12 12:53:17 PM
Anyone who has ever worked in a sizable company has seen this : very talented youngish exec shows tremendous leadership, gets the troops riled up, moves mountains, etc. 15 years later he is a bloated shadow of his former self, normally spending lots of time on golf courses and in board meetings.

Nope, just stupid comments about how Hillary is the best man for the job.

Unsung_Hero 2008-04-12 01:30:38 PM
Hillary's old enough that we probably don't need to worry about intense negotiations every 28 days.

On the other hand, she's nowhere near black enough to attract the white liberals.

/whee, that was fun!

BizarreMan 2008-04-12 02:14:03 PM
And the former president said: "She took a terrible beating in the press for a few days because, she was exhausted at 11 o'clock at night and she started talking about Bosnia and she misstated the circumstances under which she landed in Bosnia," he said. "Did you all see all that?"

If the call had been at 3am she would have been able to handle it though.

hubiestubert [TotalFark] 2008-04-12 02:17:38 PM
I got the impression from the clip that he was actually a bit pissed about the flap. She is his wife after all.

The only problem is that he's claiming exhaustion for her, and he was wrong on a few points. But he was very much a Spin President, so it's no surprise.

The thing is, if she wants to claim exhaustion for the "mis-spoke" sort of thing, and is trying to use the "Who do you want to get the call at 3am" reasoning, she, by her own reasoning, is poisoning the well for herself.

I Said: The Clintons have come to terms with the impending loss. The are now trying to elevate Barack by losing harder (see Penn.) and by market testing arguments and points of debate

So in, what, a couple days she's gone from the "There can be only one...me!" attitude to "Gee-whillikers, we should throw ourselves on the fire for good ol' Barack!" attitude?

I like your optimism, dude, but I think you're reaching.

Since it's still a fraction of the threads we had on Wright, we perhaps need more on Bosnia.

This.

I buy the argument that maybe Bill is trying to sink Hillary's campaign by making inflammatory comments that seem to support her but still discredit her at the same time. Bill is a savvy politician so I don't think it's beneath him to tank her campaign in order to keep his public speaking gig. The trick is to make it look like he supports her while still tearing her down. He's doing a great job if that's his intent.

As many as necessary to make sure that EVERYONE knows how unfit Hillary Clinton is to be President.

Apparently there is some stubborn stupid out there - some fools still support her.

Obama is a lawyer, he has learned that when you are wining the point before you even speak, you keep your fool mouth shut.

As his remarks in Pennsylvania (and his campaign's lame attempts to spin them) show, that's really, really false.

Ditto for the whole thing about his church - he could have at least minimized the issue, but, again, foot-shooting time.

Totally makes sense. My ex is like this. The fat cow he married is the bossy, naggy type, so he does passive-aggressive stuff like this to undermine her. Sometimes he does it to me because he's under the mistaken impression that I will let him walk all over me. My ex learns that he is sadly mistaken. I get the impression that Hillary wears the pants in this family, and this is how Bill gets back at her for this.

No way he wants her to win. You think he wants to hear first lady jokes for the rest of his life? Doubtin' that.
