nashBridges: I hear cocaine makes you paranoid. But really:

Hillary will want to make her mark and show that she can be just as good as a male president, and she will farking invade Iran.

And Elton John is calling Americans sexist????!!

It's a slam on Hillary as a person - not as a woman... IMHO

Silly Roger. No matter who wins, we're going to attack Iran. It's our right to go around attacking countries that pose no threat to us.

In an odd, sick way, it's a good strategy. As long as we keep attacking countries that pose no threat, we'll never have to fight the ones that are. Think about the idiot drunk bully at your neighborhood pub. He gets blitzed and starts shiat for no reason, and you hate him, but that motherfraker's crazy so let's stay away from him.

I think we're the most insane country on the planet, but in an undertow sort of way. Never crazy enough to be open about it, so you can't address it as a problem. But it's there...behind the eyes.... We keep the rest of the world terrified because we're clearly bipolar, and while everyone's off kilter, we still sit on the top of the pile.

/say what you want about fascism, at least it's an ethos

nashBridges OK, and his pointed comparison about behavior included "male" because?

I could give less of a fark, because I consider this nonsense, but he just said in order to act like a man would she was going to invade Iran.

I'm not a Hillary voter. I'm not even liberal. But I am a Pink Floyd Fan.

That's a bullshiat argument, and a sexist one to boot.

Well, for one thing, Hillary started playing the gender card.
And remember how Kerry had to go hunting to show how 'manly' he was? Or that (some) people won't vote for those who aren't 'real men'?
What about the French being pussies because they didn't want to invade Iraq? Because 'real men' bomb the shiat out of weak countries, from 10,000 feet up in the air.

I love Pink Floyd and Roger Waters--I have the whole catalog, several bootlegs, books, etc. They're my all time favorite band. I have to admit, I haven't kept up too much lately, and didn't know Roger had a song on The Last Mimzy.

I'm also an Obama supporter. My wife and I have donated hundreds of dollars to his campaign. I still have a yard sign out even though we (Iowa) were the first place to vote.

I say that to show that I'm not biased. That having been said--The song on that page is total crap. So was Dave's last album. I think it might be time to hang it up.

I couldn't agree more about that song, Dave's last album, or Ca Ira... they all suck.

But Live 8 on the other hand...

I think they need to hang it up or work it out.

Mr. Waters, could I offer you a nice hot cup of STFU?

barneyfifesbullet 2008-04-12 01:51:14 PM
All HC is going to do this year is go back to the Senate, maybe get a shot at being Majority Leader, and return in 2012 to run for POTUS again against President Grandpa McCain or McCain's VP.

nashBridges: OK, and his pointed comparison about behavior included "male" because?

Because there's not actually been a female President in this country? And she has previously talked about "the old boys' club" and made other similar comments, and said things about how she personally will be as strong as any of the men who have been Presdient? Even though, in recent years, that means she'll be as functionally retarded as the men who have been named President?

My wife and I were talking about this last night. She thinks a lot of women overcompensate and see the need to prove "they're tough" by using bulldog tactics they perceive that males resort to.

FeedTheCollapse: My wife and I were talking about this last night. She thinks a lot of women overcompensate and see the need to prove "they're tough" by using bulldog tactics they perceive that males resort to.

This.

Her voting record doesn't help her on the charge either.

Also, it isn't sexist to acknowledge that gender does play a part in politics. She is tough as nails and the only reason many people are voting for her is because she is a woman and they feel that she will somehow be more compassionate (careful, thoughtful, pragmatic, and egalitarian also comes to mind) than the many male warmongering presidents we have had. You have no idea how many woman I have wanted to slap that said they voted for her in the primary because "it is time for a woman" or because "she is a woman" or because "we need a woman."

Kucinich acts and votes more like the stereotypical idea of a female president than Hillary. I hate people sometimes for being so blind.

others have noted that even Obama's stances are more stereotypically feminine in contrast with Hillary. (More passive and less aggressive.)

Either way, I don't really trust Hillary. I don't think she'd necessarily go to war with Iran, but she was obviously duped when it came to labeling to the Qud army a terrorist organisation.

Dave Gilmour's last album was great IMHO.

I dunno...i think it's pretty ok / mostly good... not great...
great atmosphere and production values, though...
most of the songs are pretty average/good, with some clunkers and one or two GREAT ones...
[too many ballads...]

I like his first solo album [1978] better...

/never knew he played sax until this last album...

Hillary invade Iran? Bush will already have done so by the time the next president is scheduled to take office.

Doran 2008-04-13 10:04:22 PM
I'm a big Pink Floyd fan, although more Gilmour than Waters, because Waters threw Wright out of the band during The Wall and went on a crazed power trip in the early eighties, or so Nick Mason said in his book. That said, I still respect that Waters wrote some really smashing songs.

I'm also an Obama supporter.

That said, saying that Hilary will have to live up to her male predecessors is really sexist. I've been called sexist for less, although that was a rather sexist woman calling me sexist. Anyway, it was pretty sexist.

SecretAgentSuperDragon 2008-04-15 01:24:50 PM
The hot steaming mug of STFU is gone. It was a weak brew to begin with, and it really needs to stop being offered to people in lieu of any reasonable and/or cogent response.

/Guessing someone's gonna find a muddy and overplayed cupful to offer me just for saying so.
