This might be the least competent campaign ever run. It's just so obvious they thought no one would run against Queen Hillary, so they had no idea what to do in the primary.

I tend to agree, but this guy from the Philadelphia Inquirer who was just on NPR argued that the fact that Clinton has remained a viable candidate despite Obama's greater fund raising and greater popular support shows that she's a good campaigner.

Of course, there are a number of things wrong with that statement, most prominently the presumption that she's still a viable candidate (because, well, she's not). But if one were inclined to view the race that way...

Well, I don't know what my point was. If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its ass hopping, right? The dude from the Inquirer was clearly just crazy.

I think you have a point here. She's pretty damned tenacious, in a "I'm-not-crazy-you're-the-one-that's-crazy" sort of way.

I think you said it best with that picture, but I will do my best to explain myself....Men who ride Mechanical Bulls are more likely to.....have sex with other men. Yeah thats the ticket!

Yeah, I think there is a bit of reality defiance going on here, which is itself pretty disturbing (especially coming off of nearly eight years of "it's true because we say it is").

There's something reasonably fantastic about a campaign which is considered, at least by some, to be viable solely because it continues to assert that it is viable!

There seems to be such a cynical view in American politics, that if something isn't true, it will become so if you repeat it often enough. That really disgusts me.

what_now [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 12:03:52 PM
I have never seen a man ride a mechanical bull. I assumed those things were only installed for drunken bachelorette parties.

When will politicians learn? We know you're not one of us, but if you try to pull that off and fail, it's so much worse.

TMBGfreak 2008-04-11 12:09:36 PM
The sole reason for the existance of mechanical bulls is for men to hope to get a glimpse of drunk girl flopping boobie.

To believe that a lie will be alchemically transmogrified into truth if you repeat it often enough is a core tenet of the corrupt and repudiated philosophy known as Neoconservatism (Sometimes calling themselves Neoliberal as well), a movement of which Shrillary is a member.

Knowing this explains douchebags like Kristol who have an accuracy rate that could only be mathematically described as Approaching Zero in defiance of the idea that he might get something right once out of random chance.

Kristol is always wrong because he honestly believes that if he bullshiats enough he can make the bullshiat true.
This is the same thing with habitual Uberlosers like McAuliffe and co. (Remember the crew who managed to lose all of the previous elections and then keep calling themselves experts. These are the guys who told Kerry to sit there like a wimp instead of fighting back. Not that I liked Kerry, but nobody is going to expect you to stick up for them if you won't stick up for yourself)

I've never ridden a mechanical bull.

There was a guy nicknamed Bull, but he wasn't mechanical.

Men who ride mechanical bulls clearly have made a lifestyle choice...not that there is anything wrong with that.

I've been to bars that had a large pair of scissors hanging behind the bar, and a collection of ties on the wall.
I guess it's against the dress code.

Farking Kerry. I winced every time he said "George Bush took his eye off the ball" in his stump speeches. Talk about taking your eye off the ball...

moops 2008-04-11 12:37:44 PM
Clearly John Kerry is not suited to be President since he can't catch a football. I mean, those who can appear photogenic with a ball tend to make more sound decisions, like invading Iraq.

Boy, it looks like Kerry is afraid he'll get hurt catching a football in those pictures. That's why I trust Republican men more.

They are never afraid to have balls hitting them in the face.

No, you're not qualified to be president unless you are named after a previous president. Having the same last name as a previous president automatically means you are qualified to be the Chief Executive of the USA.

I think the point is that he tried to appeal to the retards that do find this important and he failed. If you're unathletic you shouldn't try to get votes with your athleticism.

Not a silly as Dukakis in the tank, or Bush landing on the carrier.

The sad thing is that he is pretty athletic, but when the press is following you 24/7 you can't afford to silly muffing a catch; that's the one pic that they'll be able to sell.

Not that I care if a politician can play sports...

But why does Senator Kerry close his eyes when he catches a football?

Well, it has a marginally higher chance of working than the ill-fated "Democrats try to look like badasses in tanks" schtick. Ask Mikey Dukakis.
