Yep...coin toss.

Slaxl: So two people from the same party share similar views?

It is kind of funny when you consider how they keep trying to tell us how different they are from each other.

I, too, have a firm policy against running the country into the ground. Guess that makes me a Democrat.

Marcus Aurelius: I, too, have a firm policy against running the country into the ground. Guess that makes me a Democrat.

Nah, both parties want to run the country into the ground. What saves us is that they want to do it by different strategies and so as long as we switch back and forth on occasion it kind of balances out.

smooshie [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 09:10:56 AM
That's nice.

Hillary's still a mean, vindictive politician who'll say whatever the polls reflect. She's the one supportive of banning violent video games, and other "think of the children" policies. She voted for the Iraq War. She lies every farking day.

/voted for Obama

Code_Archeologist [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 09:42:56 AM
Well... they do. They agree on almost every policy stance, the biggest substantive policy difference between the two is the means by which they want to execute their policies.

Obama has shown himself able to bring all interested parties together to create a progressive solution to a problem.

Hillary's has shown herself to be more comfortable with excluding parties for partisan reasons, creating turmoil and fighting.

Kanyon 2008-04-11 09:43:24 AM
I have a fair amount reasons that have nothing to do with policy to not vote for Hillary.

I know. thats why its so funny when one side says the other is afraid to hold another debate.

They may be working with the same planks, but I like Obama's design for the platform better.

for good or for awesome 2008-04-11 10:40:32 AM
It's more about who will spend more time paying back their debts. Hillary is a product of the system and owes that system big.
McCain would be a third term for Bush.
Obama could shiat himself and still get my vote.

That is why I lean toward him, but when it comes down to it, I'd vote for either one of them. I just think he has a better chance of actually getting elected, and getting stuff that is important to me done.

so let me see....same policies, but i have to choose between an imbecile who can't even lie properly and someone who is open, honest and seems to be able to unite people rather than divide them.

Of course. Coin toss....

d'art 2008-04-11 10:46:07 AM
I can't think of a time when anybody's made a serious effort to create a major distinction in policy between the two to me.

But nice try at a straw man, subtard

Gosling [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 10:46:22 AM
That they do.

The way in which they express and pursue those views, however. They're a world apart there.

probably the same people do it for the same reason others try to couch "Lib" as some kind of dirty word

Obama is someone that I'd like to have an intelligent conversation with on just about any subject.

Hillary is someone that I'd want to coontpunch as soon as she opens that shrill lying mouth.

AndEhBus: You Keep Using This Word. I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.

Coming from one of the "I'm not a republican, i'm a libertarian" ship-jumping crowd that doesn't have much credence.

muck4doo [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 10:50:29 AM
I thought this was already settled. Obamas supporters hate women. Hillarys supporters hate black people.

Crude 2008-04-11 10:50:33 AM
Yeah. Pretty much.

Here's the major difference though:

One is a habitual, serial liar who doesn't seem to realize that her husband got away with lying because he could bite his lip and rely on his natural ability to be a slimy politician without a conscience. And though she has the same voters' attention, they don't share the same devotion to her mad lying skillz, yo. Those blindly Democrat or nothing voters went to Obama.

The other candidate is a typical racist person who can give some semi-pretty speeches, but he lacks actual substance.

But on all the major issues, they have the exact same policies.

SanderJK 2008-04-11 10:50:53 AM
The difference between Obama and Hillary is not in the policy. It's in the politics. And i'm not sure you can get a wider gap in the way politics is done then Hillary and Obama within the Democratic or Republican party.

barjockey 2008-04-11 10:51:05 AM
Both say they have a goal of providing universal coverage

Both candidates also support legislation to help homeowners with "underwater mortgages" - meaning their homes are worth less than the mortgage. That legislation would provide government guarantees for their mortgages

Both candidates say they would help low- and middle-income workers set up personal retirement accounts and provide government matches for the first $1,000 saved annually.

...whether to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. Obama says yes

Both candidates would repeal Bush's tax cuts on wealthy Americans to pay for their programs.

You get the government you deserve. Do we really deserve such an inflated government?! They may as well both come out and say that they are creating a federal department that comes to every American's house and wipes your ass for you since you are too stupid and/or lazy to do it without government assistance.

Farking albatrosses.

NYZooMan 2008-04-11 10:51:32 AM
Indeed.

The question is who can win, followed by who will more likely actually GET THEIR PLAN IMPLMENTED.

Promising everyone a pony and a rainbow only works in DIsney movies.

Crazy_horce [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 10:52:45 AM
Crude: The other candidate is a typical racist person who can give some semi-pretty speeches, but he lacks actual substance.

Just so we're up to date on all of the terms:

so Obama is now Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Hitler, a pimp, a drug dealer, a sexist, a homosexual, a communist, satan incarnate, a phony, a liberal, an empty suit, some inexperienced punk, a crack head, a g-d damn negro, anti-semetic, a muslim, a terrorist, a harbringer of doom, unpatriotic, a pet-rock, and now a racist

man, Obama is getting such an easy ride, i can't believe it!

i mean, really, if any of those statements were true/self-evident or right, then how come Hillary or McCain can't beat him? it seems to me that labeling the one in front as a horrible person, but then being completely unable to compete with said person when it counts... just makes your case even worse, since this is an election of ideas

Insurance_EE_guy [TotalFark] 2008-04-11 10:54:01 AM
NYZooMan: Promising everyone a pony and a rainbow only works in DIsney movies.

Good point. And in my mind here's a very substantive difference...

FTFA: At the college level, both want to provide more tuition relief through tax credits - up to $3,500 for Clinton and $4,000 for Obama. Obama also would require something Clinton does not. Students would have to perform 100 hours of community service to qualify each year.

Emphasize on the Emphasis

Seems better than the Department of Destroying Your Country One Freedom At A Time that we currently have.

Do you REALLY want to argue that the Republicans have smaller government? (And by argue I mean with facts)
