You know, there was actually a song in the late 80s called "Stutter Rap", which was full of stuttering and *about* stuttering.

It was by Moris Minor and The Majors and was a novelty hit (in the UK, Australia and Canada). I would say that surely would make number one, on all counts.

Jeez...

At least they got #1 right, in terms of best song.

I think that some of those don't really count as stuttering, though.

"Psycho Killer" for example never seemed like stuttering to me. I don't buy that there is a "far" at the end of the string of "fa"'s. "Better" is on the pick up to "run run run run, run run run away", anyway. Seems like they are confusing repeating a nonsense word with stuttering.

"Fergalicious", besides being crap, doesn't sound like it has stuttering so much as an abused sample.

For "The Reflex" they even admit it's not really a stutter, since it happens on the second syllable.

I haven't heard most of the other songs, but did Blender really need to go to all that trouble just to have a paragraph worth of info about stuttering?

AT40 did this 30 years ago. Well, with the songs that are now older than 30 years.

Yeah if you didn't think "My Generation" the moment you read this headline then, well, I dunno I can't think of anything. I don't want to know you.

Take Five 2008-04-10 09:34:35 PM
I figured "My Generation" would have to be #1, and figured "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" would be near the top. Didn't realize (and don't agree) that "Psycho Killer" was a stutter song. How about "Movin' Out" by Billy Joel? (heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack) Second syllable and all - but still....

You beat me to it, paulseta. I was going to say that no list about the greatest stuttering songs is complete without Moris Minor and The Majors.

Well played.

Yep. If they're going to include Psycho Killer, they should've put Otis Redding's caw-caw-caw-caw-cuz I'm a "Love Man" on their list, too.
