His critique of Obama is rather convoluted. He's a smart guy and this isn't exactly coherent in some ways. Either he's off his game or Hillary's ghost writer for him sucks. I don't agree with him and could probably do something better than that.

Nope.

So, Hillary has Joe Wilson and Larry Johnson...a couple of former Republicans that are still connected to Washington. Eh, not impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if they had vaginas.

Calvin Coolidge 2008-04-10 03:22:23 AM
Joseph C. Wilson IV? Can you say 'pompous, self-fellating dickwad'?

HeyHi 2008-04-10 03:23:57 AM
FTFA: Obama claims that an antiwar speech he made while running for state Senate in the most liberal district in Illinois is proof of his superior intuitive judgment. But if Obama had been in Washington at that time, participating in the national debate, he would have come face to face with Secretary of State Colin Powell, the same Colin Powell who, as Gen. Powell, was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the first Bush administration, the one Obama wishes to emulate.

if my aunt was my uncle, she'd have a dick???

My opinion of Wilson was riding high at one point.

This is uncalled for, especially if he's supporting Clinton.

Then this is an endorsement for Obama, as Wilson is known for getting key facts wrong. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39834-2004Jul9.html

Yeah, he seems to be going the route of that foul-mouthed toad Larry Johnson. Real classy guys. I guess there is a reason they used to be Republicans.

And if Wilson had kept his mouth shut, his wife would still have a job.

You guys Dan Rather'd the whole story. Do you believe in the Niger yellowcake?

helix400 2008-04-10 03:37:49 AM
Sabyen91: What?

From the article: "The panel found that Wilson's report, rather than debunking intelligence about purported uranium sales to Iraq, as he has said, bolstered the case for most intelligence analysts. And contrary to Wilson's assertions and even the government's previous statements, the CIA did not tell the White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa intelligence that made its way into 16 fateful words in President Bush's January 2003 State of the Union address."

This is well known. Many of his early claims didn't exactly fit the same muster has he claimed.

uptonogood 2008-04-10 03:48:51 AM
I met Mr. Wilson once. Stand up guy on foreign policy and getting the job done right and well, but his opinion about who ought to be president doesn't mean dick to me at this place in time, since I'm now in the same line of work as he previously was; in short, he ought to shut the fark up and let this play out to its natural conclusion - with an Obama victory and Hillary in tears (again).

Relatively Obscure [TotalFark] 2008-04-10 03:50:23 AM
It seems like his entire argument hinges on the notion that the "build-up" to the use of force in Gulf Wars I and II were 100% identical; this is beyond false.

Whatsleft 2008-04-10 05:18:15 AM
I got tired of reading but did I glean from that, that the first Gulf War was conducted reasonably but that doesn't mean Obama should attribute that to Bush Sr? I just don't understand where the beef is. Also, Wilson used to be a republican? I can't say I'm surprised.

One hell of a lot more foreign policy experience than:

Reagan 1980
Carter 1976

"In fact, Obama's understanding of foreign policy is extraordinarily limited. He has had one job in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: chairman of the Europe and NATO subcommittee. He has not held a single policy hearing in that capacity because, as he said in a debate, he has been too busy running for president. He has not even taken a fact-finding trip or provided any other oversight."

Did you even RTFA?

Realist? You mean the guy whose "investigation" consisted of spending a few days drinking sweet tea with Nigerian officials (who may or may not have relatives emailing you as we speak) to conclude it was "highly doubtful" anyone from Iraq was trying to buy uranium in Nigeria?

It's bullshiat. No, he hasn't done much with the European subcommittee. There hasn't been much to do. But he is also an quite-active full member of the standing Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and has made fact-finding trips to Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Jordan, Israel (and the Palestinian territories), Kenya, Djibouti, Chad, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

Powell would have told him, as he told the other senators he briefed at that time, including Sen. Clinton, that the president wanted to use the Authorization for the Use of Military Force resolution not to go to war but, rather, as leverage to go to the United Nations to secure intrusive inspections. George W. Bush repeated this claim publicly.

Well shiat, if George W. Bush said it, it must be true! How is anyone still trying to push the fantasy that the AUMF was a vote for diplomacy? How stupid do these people think we are?

Coherence, relevant historical anecdotes, assessment of Obama's policies, yellow cake, pics of his hot wife.

Bet the Bush administration is wishing they had the whole Plame debacle today seeing as how half of the Democratic party would now side with them.

It seems a bit silly for Joe Wilson to discredit obama's anti-war stance as being worthless, considering that he wanted people to pay lots of attention to his anti war stance in 2002.

If it helps, Libby's a jerk, and was rightly found guilty (probably because he was hiding something worse), and his sentence should have stayed. Joe Wilson is also a pompous, self-inflating moron, as later facts and a bipartisan panel indicated.

Those are purely subjective adjectives.

It is extremely clear that the Bush administration vastly exaggerated the threat of nuclear acquisition by the Iraqis. Wilson's part in deflating their hyperbole, and their subsequent attack on him and his wife, was especially contemptible.
