I've run over a seagull on accident before. They aren't exactly the smartest birds in the world. I've seen several dead seagulls on the road near Devils Lake, ND.

I've always referred to Pigeons as "rats with wings" or "winged rats". Seagulls are more like Winged Raccoons, or Winged Oppossums, really. Maybe even Winged Nutria.

Several years ago, The Fall played a three-night run at my venue. The first night was relatively uneventful.

The second night, they showed up 5 minutes before we were to open doors, more shiatfaced than I would ever have imagined possible, and demanded a sound check. This would require striking the opening band (a rather sizable and complex ensemble), setting them up, doing the sound check, striking them and setting the opener up again. It very nearly came to blows. We somehow reached a compromise and got doors open about an hour late. Smith and his tour manager/drinking buddy heckled the opener throughout their set, which again almost led to a physical confrontation backstage. The Fall played past curfew, continuing even after the PA was off and the house lights brought up.

The third night, Smith and his tour manager walked in about a half-hour before their set and introduced themselves to me.

I just call them Sky Roaches. "Hey, look at that Sky Roach trying to get at that french fry."
