Unfortunately for him, to win a Senate seat you have to be at least marginally likable.

Well, he's famous, so therefore he's qualified.

MacEnvy: Unfortunately for him, to win a Senate seat you have to be at least marginally likable.

Two words: Rick Santorum.

I am getting a shiver up my leg. If he wears a codpiece he has my vote!

I'm all for Chris. He is most likeable and certainly knowlegeable. I've liked Chris ever since I heard him interviewed in 1987 on Larry King's radio program about his then-new book "Hardball".

In recent time, I actually watch Keith Olbermann more than Chris on MSNBC .... Chris has long been a "truth-seeker" like in the moment seeking the latest interview, but Keith is a true "truth reporter" digging and researching for the truth, and the only person in the Corporate Media allowed to be critical of the Bush administration and the disasters in Iraq and to our civil liberties.

Chrissy Mathews has just the right amount of smug and contempt for the public to be in public office. Whether he can win an election is another matter.

Complete Douchebag.

Democratic senator? Thanks but, we don't want him.

/Since when is Chris Matthews a democrat?

LonMead 2008-04-10 05:17:01 AM
But his leg says YES!

He'd be running against Specter. He's the more likable of the two, easily.

To be more likeable than Spector you have to do only two things:
1) breathe
2) gargle

He's been that way for years, and every election cycle everyone says, "THIS is the year we get rid of Spector!". 28 years later, he's still pretty comfortable

Dr.Zom 2008-04-10 06:24:33 AM
If he runs will he talk about his own manly scent?

Aaron Haynes 2008-04-10 08:11:54 AM
Matthews has lived and breathed nothing but politics for so long I think it's given him brain damage. You can see it if you watch carefully, he has no filters anymore. Only someone constantly thinking about politics could say the kind of stuff he does (or write a book about living your life as a political campaign, for that matter). He's like the end result of a social programming experiment where a kid watched nothing but 24-hour news networks for 30 years.

If Matthews gets in the senate will he kiss his own ass?

You mean Phil Spector? I thought he resided in California!

Specter's a liberal Republican, and Chris Matthews is a conservative Democrat. I'd call it a wash, either way.

In fact, I'd consider it a loss, since I watch "Hardball" daily.

Chris Matthews is probably smarter than most of you farkers out there(myself included). Your distaste for him does not preclude his ability to hold public office.

Never say never about wanting to be in high public office. It keeps your options open and even if you don't want to run it keeps people interested in your show, book, crappy merchandise, etc.

Newbaca 2008-04-10 10:56:29 AM
Man the GOP just won't give Specter a break. Putting two primary challengers against him back to back seems a little excessive.

mtman900 2008-04-10 11:27:35 AM
Should Matthews get in, grandstanding will enter a new age of ridiculousness.

Lemme see... to go from a 5+ million paycheck to a couple hundred thou? Now he has money and power. How much money is he willing to give up for a different set of power?

moothemagiccow 2008-04-10 07:20:24 PM
I can never remember which side this guy is on, because he's just always acting like a dick

Phil Moskowitz 2008-04-10 07:50:56 PM
That closeted emotional cripple is JUST the kind of person who would seek office.

Bacontastesgood 2008-04-11 02:36:27 AM
I didn't realize bloviating-windbag-at-large was a Senate seat.
