So, they'll be like the 100th greatest band in Canada at that point? Right after Rush, Tragically Hip, Alanis, and the multitude of mediocre Canadians "musicians" who can't sing worth shiat?

In other equally important news, I just dropped a big deuce.

I'm not even sure what the heck you're trying to say, here. Do you think that Radiohead is from Canada, or just that they're not even as good as the musical acts from Canada you listed?

Either way, you're wrong. Wrong and stupid. Wrong, and painfully stupid.

This news makes me happy, mainly because I'm 5000 miles away on the other side of the continent.

Even I will admit that Neil Young (a Canadian) can't sing. But he made up for it by moving to California permanently and writing good songs. Musicians who stay in Canada still can't sing, but they also write crappy songs. I failed to mention the only other Canadian band that ever had a hit "Crash Test Dummies" but they sucked too. Almost as bad as Arcade Fire (who can't sing).

Radiohead are going to Canada, presumably because Thom Yorke can't sing either.

I've heard of four of these bands. And I think you just proved my point. Canadian music sucks. Canadians can't sing.

I will go one further: Canadian music is actually WORSE than Radiohead. Worse than Coldplay. Worse than every whiny British band that pollute our airwaves with their endless stream of complaining (though they happen to all be multi-millionares).

We suck. If Lenny Kravitz was Canadian, he'd get the Order of Canada, and Lenny Kravitz is to music what Leroy Nieman is to painting. Face it we stick up for truly awful bands and singers that if they were Amercian, we'd think they suck.

Really sick of the whole "its good because its Canadian."

Sorry about the grammar

Hey, for a Canadian band, Nickleback isn't all that crappy (in comparison)!

For an American Band, Nickleback is... well they are what they are. A modern version of Bon Jovi.

Nah, never been all that patriotic music-wise. Ill come here and defend the very few we have, but in the end, growing up I always felt canadian music was bland and 10 years behind. In general, we just aped our british and american counterparts, rarely were we the trend-setters sound wise... Its pretty bleak out there.

But you should know, you being Canadian

THIS

That is why they call it "taste".

I actually do hate Celine Dion because she hurts my ears. I mean that literally, I have perfect pitch and the woman makes my ears hurt.

That being said, everyone has different tastes. Taste is also what the music evokes, be it a memory, or a stirring of emotion. For instance, I love the Barenaked Ladies. Nothing to do with how wonderful their voices are or how great a band they are. Soley because their lyrics make me laugh and "If I Had a Million Dollars" was the first song that my son and I could sing in the car together.

/I'd buy you a K Car

Valdes Canadians can't sing

Ben Heppner
Russel Braun
Michael Schade
Simone Osbourne
Richard Margison
Measha Brueggergosman

and - just to name a few of the "legit" popular voices - Goulet, Mitchell, Dion, etc.

As for the many others mentioned here, you appear unaware that popular singing is mostly emotion and attitude. That's why Cohen and Young are revered.

Finally, you don't deserve the civility of this post.

I never really bashed Cohen. And I think Neil Young is the greatest musician of his era alive.

"In Rainbows" is a great album. Best since "OK Computer". The thing is, if you appreciate good music, Led Zeppelin, Porcupine Tree, early Barenaked Ladies(added just cause they are relevant to the thread), and so on and so on, it is ridiculous not to, at the very least, appreciate Radiohead. I think they took some missteps trying to change the face of music in the last couple of years, but you cannot be serious about music if you hate Radiohead. Open up your mind.

More great Canadian singers: Feist, Anne Murray, Joel Plaskett, Ron Sexsmith, Devin Townsend. (Trying to cover all genres here.)

The Greatest Canadian singer of all time: Burton Cummings. (With bonus points for awesome moustache/afro combo in the late '70's.)

I was a Radiohead fan in high school and college, and I was lucky enough to see them on the Kid A/Amnesiac tour here in the states. I liked the direction the band was going at the time with those albums, but I didn't know how well the electronic music would work live.

Hands down it was the most rockin' show I'd ever seen.

These guys have played music together since they were about 12, and they're all talented. I don't care what kind of music you like, anyone who likes rock shows would walk out of there absolutely floored.

/I still have no idea why a story about a show in Canada was greenlit. That just seems weird.
