See, in that song, "a b*tch ain't one" of his problems because he has Beyonce, and is not having problems with her.

Also, I would like to say that graph is one of the best things I've ever seen on the internet.

Jay Z gives hope to every talentless person out there.

You go, nigs!

If you want to talk about talent, Jay-Z is probably one of the best businessmen of his generation. Forget rapping, he has creatively made incredible amounts of money without degrees or anything in ways that most people have yet to understand. He also freestyles entire albums. It's more like he gives hope to people with shiatloads of talent who work hard when they care about something and coast when they don't.

Also, lots of people knock rap but if you give it a chance you would be surprised. I don't know anybody who knocks it that doesn't have a baser habit whether they admit it or not. In your case, racism would probably fit although if you count fashion as a hobby that would work too (you go there, ignorant douche).

People knock every kind of music but the best artists of any genre are invariably going to be good. I know people around here (Massachusetts) knock country on a daily basis, but if you put on late '70s Bonnie Rait or some good Ray Charles nobody is going to not like it, you know? If I put on the new roots album even my mom gets down with it, and for reference I put on the blackstar album once and she started grunting because thats what she thought it sounded like. (Not very enlightened but I love her anyway.)

I mean the Atlanta snap rap scene right now is garbage but if you see one of the live shows you'll be jealous as hell that you can't be a part of it. People there love it even though there is only one decent artist (Young Dro), but it's all perspective. People in that scene are probably 100x happier with their music than anybody on this board but there are maybe three notes in the entire catalog. I don't care if my music makes me look cool or if it makes me look intelligent, I just care that I like it.

/this is why I don't take adderol at work anymore; I had some stuff to do and I thought this would help but now I just zone into my fark posts

No, it would not make any sense and neither do you right now.

Which rappers are you referring to? All of them? Wow, that's quite the generalization there. Pretty much continuing on the thread of Farkers bashing rap in general.

Let me clue you in on something - mainstream rap is just the other side of the coin from mainstream country. Jay Z = Garth Brooks. Lil'/Young Whomever = Rascall Flatts. In the end, it's marketing, slick production and a targeted lowest-common-denominator audience.

Kind of like how people think Democratic politicians and Republican politicians are different. In the big picture, they're the same thing.

i used to not like jay z because i found his voice annoying. i gave him a chance a listened to his cds and he is very talented lyrically. he often has very good wordplay and i can respect him for obviously putting thought into his music. he makes "shallow" music that will get played on the radio and as well as introverted music on his album for people who are looking for that sort of thing. he also uses his money to help out in the neighborhood he grew up in so you really can't fault him for that. he can't help the poor if he's one of them, so he got rich and gave back, now that's win-win.

I don't like Garth Brooks' music but he does make some intelligent stuff. Just because it is not something I happen to not like does not make it without merit. He also writes a lot of his own music and sells out in countries like the U.K. with almost no (positive) promotion. It's a culture different than my own and people relate to it - what else is music supposed to be, exactly? Should I just pick and choose what I listen to based on how it makes me look in the eyes of other people? Should I not listen to music from people from other cultures if I disagree with some aspects of that culture, even if I like the music? What is your argument here?

Also, commercial rap may have some awful music but I could make the argument that OutKast is the most intelligent, creative mainstream act in the last 20 or 30 years in any genre. Hip hop is the music of my generation and I would love to see someone try to argue otherwise. It is by no means even half of what I listen to but I appreciate it for what it is and respect the good artists. I certainly do not listen to every rapper but I am sure you don't listen to every act in whatever (one) genre you listen to. While the women bashing is a little grating sometimes, there is women bashing in white culture. Because some white people can act misogynistic I should act holier-than-thou for all of white culture? Literally every female I know that has bashed rap in my life likes the Beatles, but I have never heard one of them bring up what "Baby You Can Drive My Car" is about.

So you don't like rap music because some artists have different values than your own, and Glitchwerks' opinion doesn't matter because he is (allegedly) from Iowa and a college student? All this while trying to take the high ground in a debate about being ignorant?

/Listen to Floetry, the Roots, Mos Def, De La Soul, the Fugees/Lauryn Hill, Talib Kweli, OutKast, Binary Star, a tribe called quest, Arrested Development, Lupe Fiasco, Blackalicious, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Rakim, Little Brother, dead prez, Run DMC and then tell me that all prominent hip hop is like that.

Upon further reflection, you have given me pause to realize that I do not, in fact, even know who "Skrewdriver" is. I did make unfair generalizations about you, and although I do not feel the need to define my own cultural leanings, anyone can find tasteless concepts inherent in any given culture. I have never been a troll, or a prick.

I won't bother to defend what is on my Ipod, as I know you do not care; my point is simply that that the careless glamourization of base need trivializes us all. I have the utmost respect for lyricists who talk about society, culture, politics, racial relations and also express other artistic perceptions that help us try to understand; we are a young country. That being said, choosing to say something is far superior to remaining silent. I appreciate your thought provoking fire.

I think you should have stuck with trolling. Your attempt at back-peddling is weak. I think the contents of your iPod would be interesting. Why would you have to defend it, anyway?

I don't get it. You make condemning and condescending comments about rap music in general, you flame me, and you don't even know what I listen to. I was just pointing out that people were flaming rap music in general for the sake of bashing things. It's not even worth trying to tell people about artists like SnakeLee listed anymore. In your words, it's all "biatches, hos, guns, drugs, 'bling'" and it's screeching through your neighborhood. Wow. Tell us how you really feel.

You don't know anything about music. You just know how to be hateful.

Not surprised by this at all.
That tour is total money, all the way. $50 to $300 to get in. Special badges for the crew, that limit their access. They do not have walk on privileges. (Which means they can not walk someone past the gate) And no comp passes for anyone. You want to see the show, Pay, or know one of the headliners.
Do not even get me started on how the production company is running this thing.
Penny pincher would be a understatement.

What you gotta understand is that every genre of music has supporters. I went to a show by a German Electro band called Digitalism and there were at least a 100 people jumping dancing in unison in a small club, and the energy was awesome.
