Yes.

The band for people to cool for Jethro Tull.

The Clap would've been more appropriate.

I wonder if they regret having worn the capes.

There's my first smile of the day. Wakeman's cape looks like it may be from the Liberace collection. Toronto Farkers: Jon Anderson is doing a solo show at the Danforth Music Hall some time in the next couple of weeks - or it might have already happened; I walk by it most days, but didn't actually care enough to notice the exact date. Awesome venue. If you're into JA/Yes and haven't checked it out, I would suggest that you do.

Yesshows used to be one of our favorite midnight movie choices. It was a great way to start a weekend fry.

They're coming to Atlanta and they want $150 for a seat. Are you farking kidding me? I mean, I like Yes but is it really worth that much?

Guess I'll be on the lawn...

I came to say just that

Too bad it's not "Siberian Khatru" from that same show. Some of the hottest live guitar work ever recorded.

Good guitarist... very versatile. Happy b-day Steve

Oh, btw, I'd like to mention, again, that I will be present (on the lawn) at the Pier Six show on July 29th. Hint hint.

One of the great overlooked players. That super-smooth Chet Atkins thing he does just kills me...so fluid it flows like molten gold. Happy birthday, Steve!

Hey! It's mine too. Only 4 more years to 40, blech.

This. Great little guitar ditty.

Three more for me. But hey, on the upside, it's Buddha's birthday too, and he's got to be at least thirty or forty years older than us, and pretty close to Steve.

Steve Howe gave you the clap? Most unfortunate. But seriously... would've said "Mood For A Day" -- here featuring some classic Howe face pulling as an added bonus.

Gulper Eel:

Bought a copy of Yessongs on CD a few years ago, having had it on vinyl when it was new. And I was listening to it, remembering how great a lot of that stuff was, but then it hit me... dang, I just bought a CD of a bunch of guys wearing CAPES. WTF?

This. And that.

"Mood for a Day" is a gorgeous composition, but I'd go with "Clap," too (and guys: it's just "Clap," not "The Clap," despite what it says on The Yes Album) if only because it's so freakin' much harder to play. I've never been a great guitarist, but even I could turn out a fair rendition of "MfaD" after sitting down with it long enough. "Clap," though....that motherfarker is a beast to play even slowed down, never mind at full-rollicking tempo.

His solo during "Awaken" from Going For The One. It's absolutely incredible.

I have never cooled for Jethro Tull. I do like Yes, however. Maybe I should give it a try.

Yeah, I noticed that awhile ago too. What's up with that? Admins these days...

Steve was my first guitar hero. I have a book of transcriptions of many of his signature pieces, and learned them all when I was a teenager. His playing is still inspiring to this day.
/Superheros wear capes.

Absolutely. The version on Keys to Ascension is an atrocity by comparison.

if you want to hear even worse versions of yes songs done by actual yes members, check out CIRCA on youtube.

I think his point was that we're supposed to cool Yes for Jethro Tull. Apparently Jethro Tull doesn't like their Yes too hot, and it is our duty to mitigate the temperature and then serve it to them.
