im not exactly an arborist, but i do cut down lots and lots of trees every year. that said, ive seen designs and what have you in branches and in the boles but ive never seen a smiley face. could just be smaller branches that never made it or old scars that over the years were internalized as the tree grew and added layers. thats what ive known the designs to be made from.
