Triumph is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight - it's about time!

Sure, but ahead of Glass Tiger? It just doesn't make any sense....

They will get their due, along with Honeymoon Suite and Haywire, any year now.

Dare I dream that dream?

Do you think Bryan Adams will appear during their indoctrination and sing back up on Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone?

Bob_Laublaw: Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone?

I saw Glass Tiger with Honeymoon Suite a couple of years ago at a crappy bar and they actually didn't do that song. They tried to rock it up as much as they could.

Russell Peters is interesting as a host. I enjoyed the opening number "Alberta Bound".

They really are trying to make a big deal of the Junos. Calgary is helping by being super-receptive. Nice to see.

dammit, I missed the first half hour. Wanted to see Russell Peters opening.

I was listening to CKUA yesterday. Terry David Mulligan had Gil Moore, Tom Cochrane, Sean Verrault and Jim Cuddy on at the same time. I would have given a nut to be there.

Greetings from Canada's Mexico.

Rush better get a ton of love for Snakes and Arrows and Triumph (in particular Rik) deserve every accolade they get! I've seen Rik solo more than a dozen times and Triumph 3 time including a show where they filmed the video for Follow Your Heart and I have been a huge fan forever! Here's to Canadian Power Trios! Thank you guys very much for sharing Rush and Triumph with us.

The induction of Triumph was great. Very heartfelt, and much like their shows, they were good (particularly Mike Levine) at working the crowd.

The SO and I are surprised at how much we're enjoying the show.

Feist cleaned up. Just glad Celine didn't get anything. TWO nominations for best album?

Blue Rodeo wins best group too, kickass.

the term you're looking for is "Castration"

vasectomy just means your swimmers don't carry the important stuff

castration means you don't have the really important stuff anymore

You know, the Juno awards... Canada's Grammy's...
I think the way they work is if people in the U.S. have heard you, you win...

Electro? Have you heard The Con? Only one song (Are You Ten Years Ago) can qualify as having significant electro influences, and it's not even a single.

Sure do, saw them at the Ont. Place Forum. Great show. I've seen Moe on the subway.

Btw, can't say I'm that thrilled about Triumph, Inc.

Helix, now they had good lyrics. Gimme an R - O - C - K, and the crowd yells 'rock' really loud, now that's what I call a f*ckin' concert

Was it castration? Ah, yeah, the trick with the jar. It's been awhile. I remember her line about it being a quick simple procedure, so I just mentally filed it as vasectomy. Plus my wife loaned me some meds today so I'm a little slooooooow.

/ farkin ow.. just remembering it...

I came here to say "41 replies, that's more than the actual people who watched the show" but lue42 more or less beat me to it.

And did Russell Peters do any race jokes? I watched a DVD of one of his performances and it was one long "Indians vs other races" joke. Funny at first, then not so much.

rbaron71 [TotalFark] 2008-04-07 10:04:52 AM
Whoa, this got greenlighted? Cool!

To sum up the show, the SO and I were really impressed. Fellow Calgarians, we should take a bow at how well we did as a host city for our nation's music celebration.

Great to see the love for Blue Rodeo and Triumph.

Russell Peters made the same joke as you - "I've never watched the Junos before, so that makes me...Canadian." He did do a few race jokes, but not too many. He also did a pretty impressive job in one segment scratching records on a turntable.

Best Junos ever.

I started the thread half-jokingly, but it only went green after the show was over, so there's that.

I just pissed The Sadies didn't win. New Seasons was a great album, and those guys are the best live band going in Canada right now.
