TFA: She also told the deputy "it is tough to get her son to respect authority when he knows she breaks the law growing pot," the report said.

Good job, lady.

What's so bad about military school when you're mom's a burnout?

Not that I have anything against weed, but when you have kids you're fun life is over. There's a time and place for that, and it's called pregnancy.

Apparently the foster care system isn't just badly run, it's a place where rape is guaranteed. A kind of rape factory, if you will.

I heard it on Fark, so it must be true.

What an asshole kid. Not just a snitch, but snitching on his own mother. I can't think of more traitorous behavior. Thank goodness the cop involved was a sentient member of the human race and didn't escalate the whole thing into a circus of idiocy.

I just hope this helps people to realize what potential rat-bastards kids are. One has to be vigilant, rather than optimistic about them.

People like you are why I let my TF subscription expire.

Parents teach first and foremost by example. If you can't follow the rules, you have no right to expect your kid to. That holds true for parents, for managers, and for pretty much anyone in a position of authority.

I don't care if you believe in the rules or not. That still stands.

And my question is why the hell not? Only by being punished will she regain the moral authority to be a parent to her kid. How can she expect her child to respect her authority when she openly violates the law in her own home?

duskglow2000 2008-04-06 03:12:17 AM
signaljammer:

The mom was asking for it.

Just because the kid is related by blood doesn't mean he has some kind of cosmic mandate to never rat out someone who is breaking the law.

If my father had flagrantly broken the law like that, I might have ratted him out too, just to get him off my case. Sadly, he was too paranoid to do anything actionable.

Foster parents are generally fairly thoroughly screened. Sure, they're occasionally criminals, but they're less likely to be criminals than if you were assigned to a random family.

They'll probably force him to shape up and go to farking class, but I'm not really gonna call that a tragedy, there, and if that's abuse than a grilled cheese sandwitch is a culinary masterwork.

There are bucket loads of FAIL abound.

Kid is obviously a douche. Mom is just planning ahead for future doucheness. She just got caught before the crothfruit left the nest and her crop was ready.

Had to first look up where the sam hill is North Kitsap County. Apparently, somewhere in the hinterlands of Washington.

Well, guess what, all you agitated law n'order types (odd to find them here on Fark), cops up there in Washington (and mostly here on the West Coast) have better things to do most of the time than arrest otherwise lawabiding citizens for a few baby pot plants; usually, chase down meth heads who haven't slept in five or six weeks and who have automatic weapons.

That's not to say Mom won't be facing some kind of charges down the road: Reports were filed with the DA, with Child Protective Services, and with the local drug enforcement agency, any or all of whom can and probably will be investigating. Just cause she wasn't hooked & booked right there doesn't mean she's going to get off scott free.

No, I am sure the root fungus infecting the tree in which you dwell provides you with all the company you require, or for that matter, can tolerate.

Presuming your idiocy, and allowing for the fact that loyalty is far too abstruse a concept for you to contemplate, although we have existence proof that even a cop can get it, lets hope that you can understand transitivity: If the child has no existential duty not to rat out his parent, how can, or should, the parent shirk his duty to dispatch this garden-variety rat in the usual, and proper, manner?

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2008-04-06 03:43:37 AM
Back in the Stalin days, the State would encourage kids to spy on and report their parents (and other relatives) if they had attitudes that were 'counter-revolutionary'. When the kid turned his parents over to the KGB, the child was lavishly rewarded and other children were encourged to follow in the footsteps of these 'heroes of the revolution'.

What happened to the parents? If they were lucky, it was a quick death. Usually they ended up in a forced labor camp.

And here we are some 80 years later...and our government encourages kids to turn THEIR parents over to the police for 'drug offenses'. The child who does so is lavishly rewarded and other kids are encouraged to follow in the footsteps of these 'heroes of the war on drugs'.

Well at least we don't shoot the parents.....but sometimes I wonder if that might not be better. The worst part? people cheer when some kid turns his parents over to the DEA for a couple of joints.

Hey Arthur, I wasn't denying that, I was simply pointing out that poutine514 assumed the mother was receiving jail-time when the article obviously said she wasn't. That's all, I'm not trying to argue morality or authority or what's right and what's wrong, I'm just pointing out the obvious lack of reading this farker performed. (or didn't perform)
