Of course, some idiot hitting a panic alarm over nothing.

"I don't apologize for my staff member hitting the alarm to get the police there," he said. "Did they follow exact procedure? No. They were scared. They were intimidated."

I guess you don't apologize for making police officers put themselves and everyone else on the road at risk by speeding through traffic to get to what they thought was a serious emergency. Of course not, it's all about you, douche.

Well, the story seems a little light on facts. How did the father intimidate the employee? Was he physically threatening? Were there other children present? Did the employee believe that the children were at risk? If so using the alarm was totally justified.

Police declined to identify either the teacher or parent.

Why not?...being the only two idiots in this case...

Uh, yeah, right. "I need help." When they got there, the parent was gone. I.e., no longer there, absent, away, not present, had vacated the scene, left, departed, absconded, fled, removed himself. They couldn't have called back and said, "He's gone, you guys don't have to rush." ??? I've heard that works sometimes in making cops less annoyed when they show up because a father got mad his child couldn't have her blankie.

And I think if the guy had been aiming a shotgun at the daycare worker, the report would have mentioned it. The parent was probably just yelling and the woman peed her pants.

FTA: Willows Child provides blankets to kids and discourages them from bringing their own, which could contain germs.

Shouldn't they also provide children and discourage parents from bringing their own, which could contain germs?

Seriously, if the kid's in contact with the blanket all the time, he's gonna share the same germs as his favorite blankie.

It was probably a black guy. The world reacts a lot differently to a piss off black guy.

i honestly thought that some preschoolers were rioting with blankets... would have been funny to see cops in riot gear having a standoff with some toddlers..

Jeff Paine: Shouldn't they also provide children and discourage parents from bringing their own, which could contain germs?

Not if the daycare doesn't want it... it's their business, if the father DEMANDS that the child take their own blanked, they can take their business elsewhere.

DYXautic 2008-04-05 07:39:44 PM
So every time you're intimidated or scared, you have a free pass to make retarded decisions? Probably explains all those stupid false alarms related to the gun shootings.

Barbecue Bob 2008-04-05 07:39:51 PM
So, they don't allow blankets, but they're gunna allow those germ riddin kids in their building?!?!

Me thinks the blankets are not the problem.
Get rid of the kids and your sure to not have those pesky gems.

Some of the dumbest people I know are teachers. As a professional group, I'd say they're among the dumbest you'll ever find.

Live in north Denver, wife teaches preschool, kick, replies, etc.

Bet they won't be mentioning this incident when Qualistar comes by. This kind of crap should be an automatic -1 star. As it is, given the teacher's behavior and the director's response, I'm quite happy this center's on the other end of town (and hence already out of the running for both my wife and my daughter).

My child has no germs. Only, your child has germs. And if you don't like it I'm calling the cops.

I had some dumb teachers growing up, but the teachers I have met in my peer age group have all been smart people.

Hmmmm, lets see. Nobody is being charged with anything and there is no investigation going on.

It was an argument, possibly a heated one, but still just an argument.

JmBa 2008-04-05 08:58:37 PM
Upon arrival, the angry parent had left and police told the teacher to save the alarm for true emergencies.

Sounds like there aren't any missing facts from the story. It really pretty much was an argument over a blankie. Seems like if anything truly threatening was involved it would've been mentioned and the police would've commended the decision.

And it would have been better to let it escalate another couple of clicks with the possibility of endangering a roomful of PLS's? Yeah, that would've gone over well. Particularly in Littleton CO.

Not saying they did the right thing, but I'm not saying they didn't either. I wasn't there.

Amen.

I've been seeing that happen more and more here. I think I'm just going to stop looking in the comments threads because too many people act just like the people they are mocking. The threads are about as predictable as an episode of Batman and Robin.

Fark has become a caricature of itself. Sad.

There is a putdown in there somewhere, "considering 50% of people are stupider than you are". But I will leave that one alone! :)

Working with Boeing as a consultant, some of the Engineers/PHDs have a hard time trying to fix/wire a vacuum cleaner switch, or figure out how some basic physics are applied. Some of the basic systems I identify from memory, these "enama"gineers have to rely on ref manuals.

/I thinks the Bell curve was broke a long time back!

Melbar leaving school with less and less knowledge.
Physics explains it, The Law of conservation of energy.
The universe can not loose or gain energy. Since intelligence is part of the energy of the brain, and there are more people alive now, the energy must be getting spread very thin!

I often see people wonder why kids are leaving school with less and less knowledge than the generation before them. Stop wondering and look at who's teaching them!

include the words "inner city" as a qualifier of your statement and you would be close. The problem is that the really smart ones are in the burbs or private schools making 3x the money :P
