(Starpulse) Unlikely Nick Mason says Pink Floyd's days of playing together aren't over yet. Claims there's another charity gig or two out there where they can all tensely leer at each other on stage for a few tunes   (starpulse.com) divider line 36

Eh, I'd like to see all four of them together, myself. Of course, ALL their one-off charity gigs will be in Britain, I'm sure, so I'm not getting too excited about it. Whatever.

The day this'll happen is the day hell will freeze over. They didn't even play together that the Syd Barrett tribute, in spite of Waters expressing interest in it.

If they did a gig and played 5 songs, what would be your dream set list? (Barring the ones they did at Live 8)

Mine:
1. Have a Cigar
2. Young Lust
3. Dogs
4. Astronomy Domine
5. Brain Damage/Eclipse

Why would anyone care about most of the reunion gigs around these days. They are cover bands of themselves. Damn good cover bands, but still basically cover bands. There are a few exceptions in which the band could actually bring something different and new to the equation, but I can't see Pink Floyd (any line up) somehow elevating themselves above what they did 30+ years ago. By playing again they are just tarnishing their reputation.

I loves me the old, weird Floyd.

Amen. BTW, I used to have an 8 track version (just shut up and get off the grass) of Animals, which featured a guitar solo in Pigs on the Wing, which was never released on any other format. On the 8 track, parts 1 and 2 were one song with the guitar solo as a bridge. Anyone heard it?

Yes indeed. And did you know that guitar solo was played by Snowy White and not David?

And for the encore, which in my fantasy, will totally happen:

Then the entirety of The Final Cut.

And I'm pretty sure that ended up on a bootleg from Oakland (maybe). I know I have it around here somewhere. I also have the quad version of Dark Side on DVD 4.1 surround sound. Incredible is the only way to describe that.

not only was that solo terrible, it was totally out of place. if they had such a hard on to have a guitar solo there, why not just get gilmour? that was still cool to hear though, thanks.

the 8-track version of Pigs on the Wing is also on "Total Eclipse", which is the most amazing 4-disc bootleg of Floyd ever. It's the "Beatles Anthology" of Floyd music. A must have for any true Floyd fan

If I wanted to be cool like this guy, I'd list Arnold Layne, King Bee, Scream Thy Last Scream (Old Woman With A Casket), When The Tigers Broke Free, and Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast.

Since I would actually like a concert with the best songs, I'd say:

Echoes
The Gunner's Dream
Comfortably Numb (the song made me want to pick up guitar)
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Sheep

Yep. It's on the Oakland Bootleg. I have the 2cd version on the "Harvested" label...
which i believe was an audience recording, but sounds very very good!! it's like an A grade audience recording.
the only times you notice that it's an audience recording is when the quadrophonic sound effects are used... some are close some are far away sounding [which, of couse, they were, because the person recording it stayed in one spot].
other than that, if it wasn't for the internet telling me it was an audience recording, i woulda thought it was a B+ soundboard!! lolz

anyway, it's a great bootleg. and i think snowy's solo on Pigs on the Wing bridge is pretty good. It's a neat addition.
there's an awesome 17 min version of "pigs 3 different ones", and a 18+ minute version of Dogs....
i also thought it was pretty neat how they played ALL OF "animals" and ALL of "wish you were here" not to mention some of DSOTM, and even Careful w/ that axe eugene.
overall one of the coolest PF boots i own.

/ the other is a 1970 gig in the states somewhere

ha, I was hoping someone would mention my tracklist. Truth to be told I was (obviously) listing their worst songs. Admit it, you'd be plenty surprised to hear them break into The Gnome when you're expecting Comfortably Numb.

It would undoubtedly be the worst concert ever, but I'd probably be laughing the whole time.

Well, then, I back off on my snarkiness, and well played. There's always those people who try to pick the most obscure or least liked tracks and claim them as favorites to be a "true fan". They are annoying.
